The Senior Reliability Engineer is a crucial part of our team, supporting product commercialization, NPI and volume manufacturing.. Reporting to the Head of Operations,, you’ll contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our growing organization.As Sanctuary AI’s Reliability Engineer , you'll be a valued part of the team as you support the continued improvement in our Operations function, own the coordination of team project deliverables, and innovate best practices that drive continuous improvements in our product commercialization, NPI and volume manufacturing.This is a high-impact role with strong ownership. You’ll shape how reliability and quality practices are embedded throughout our design, development, and production workflowsOur Success CriteriaDevelop processes procedures and tools for Design for Reliability (DFR) for highly complex electromechanical systemsPerform reliability analysis and modeling to predict system performance and recommend design changes to enhance predicted reliabilityDevelop and implement reliability test plansConduct failure mode and effects analysis on critical subsystems and component designs (FMEA & DFMEA)Monitor system performance and identify reliability issuesCollaborate with design engineering teams from early concept through validation to improve product reliabilityDevelop and refine product maintenance strategies to ensure reliable operationsPerform root cause analysis of system failuresProvide technical guidance and training to other team members on reliability and DFRDevelop and maintain reliability metrics and reportsEnsure compliance with industry standards and regulationsOwn the development and refinement of process controls using risk management tools such as PFMEATake ownership of building Sanctuary’s reliability systems and processes in a clean-slate environment where few formal systems exist todayQualificationsYour ExperienceBachelor's degree in reliability engineering, mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering or similar discipline5+ years in reliability engineering, ideally within robotics, medical devices, aerospace, or other complex electromechanical systemsExcellent project management and cross-functional team leadership skillsStrong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at any levelExperience with problem-solving, root cause analysis, and analytical troubleshootingWorking knowledge of mechanical assembly, hydraulics, and complex machiningApplied Design of Experiments (DOE) experienceDemonstrated application of data analysis and statistical tools in manufacturing (MiniTab experience a plus)Professional Engineering (PE) license a plus, though not requiredCertifications in reliability engineering such as CRE a plusSkillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to collaborate and partner with key stakeholders within the Engineering and Product Development organization.Familiarity with cross-functional team project managementAbility to analyze and problem solve complex operational challengesExperience with statistical analysis softwareExperience in designing and conducting reliability testing, validation protocols, and accelerated life testing (HALT/HASS)Knowledge of reliability prediction software toolsFamiliarity with industry standards (e.g. ISO 9001)Excellent problem-solving and analytical skillsSolid understanding of reliability principles, modeling techniques, and testingTechnical competence in interpreting datasheets/specs and understanding manufacturing processesUnderstanding of sourcing agreements and vendor qualityDetail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindsetExcellent time management and task juggling skillsComfortable operating in fast-paced environments with tight deadlinesAble to multitask and balance independent work with cross-functional collaborationTraitsPositive attitude and a willingness to do what it takes to meet mission objectivesTakes personal responsibility and accountabilityEmpathic listener who is solution-focused in work and relationshipsStrong bias for action and effective communicationSelf-driven with the ability to work through ambiguityMission-driven and passionate about advancing physical AIThis role has strong potential to grow into a team leadership or management position as our reliability function scales over timeWorking at SanctuarySanctuary AI is an equal opportunity employer; employment with Sanctuary AI is governed based on skills, competence, and qualifications and will not be influenced in any way by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability, or any other legally protected status.Compensation and BenefitsSanctuary AI offers a market-leading compensation package that includes competitive salaries, equity stakes, and a full suite of benefits for permanent employees, encompassing health coverage, paid time off, cutting-edge work facilities, and worksite flexibility by role.
