The role involves maintaining and supporting processes in multiple data warehouses, business intelligence, and data integration applications. Job Description The Senior Support Engineer is responsible for maintaining and supporting the processes in multiple Data Warehouses, Business Intelligence, and Data Integration applications. The role requires 24x7 support on a rotational basis and may involve overtime. What you will do Work with stakeholders and business leaders to influence, impact, and deliver operational improvements, incidents, assignments, and solutions that are complex and strategic. Act as Operations Lead on project/development teams to schedule implementation of changes, mitigate risk of customer experience impacts, and deliver on overall project schedule. Lead, monitor, identify, and implement operational improvements. Develop an understanding of the business applications and direction. Perform performance tuning for queries, applications, and resources. Use analytical skills to resolve data discrepancies or job failures. Ensure appropriate prioritization and resolution of defects per agreed SLA. Ensure compliance with incident, problem, and change management policies. Provide technical documentation including design and operational support documentation. Collaborate with team members, technical leads, and application support teams to ensure quality services. Proactively share knowledge and expertise to build the support engineering community. Provide coaching and advice to less experienced engineers and other Sr. Engineers. Lead and deliver innovative solutions and projects from conception to delivery leveraging data and technology. Utilize communication skills to engage, influence, negotiate, and collaborate with project teams, operation teams, and vendors. Participate in rotational on‑call operational support, including after‑hours support. Occasionally provide after‑hours and weekend support for planned production implementations and disaster recovery exercises. What you need to succeed 5+ years of hands‑on experience as an IT application/technical support analyst. 2‑3+ years of experience with ETL tools: Informatica PowerCenter/IDMC. 2‑3+ years in a DW/BI environment. 2‑3+ years of experience with Mainframe technologies: TSO, Z/OS, JCL, COBOL. Knowledge of Business Objects Universe Designer and Web Intelligence. Experience with databases: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, flat files (7+ years). Experience with Postgresql. Knowledge of Windows and Unix environments. ITIL Foundations Level 3 Certification (asset). Computer Science degree or equivalent. Preferred Skills Ability to analyze, anticipate, and mitigate risk factors and collaborate with stakeholders. Demonstrated initiative and judgment to prioritize tasks, workload, and projects. Ability to work in a virtual team and resolve conflict. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proactive initiative, curiosity, and conscientiousness for continuous improvement. Leadership ability to inspire others. Willingness to share ideas and participate in group discussions.
