As a Director, you will:

  1. Lead multi-functional engineering teams, dedicated to building and supporting Insurance Technology systems
  2. Lead your teams to redesign and build client facing technology systems in support of our Insurance and Affinity business in Canada
  3. Assist squads to provide Tier 2 and 3 support under the application criticality framework
  4. Employ re-usable and extensible frameworks, reference implementations and patterns and build new functionality to deliver on key product objectives
  5. Deliver an exceptional user experience, through the delivery of products and services with strong and extendable architectural design
  6. Guide and motivate the development of engineering staff within your team as well as focus on overall team engagement
  7. Maintain and support these services, with accountability for production reliability and usage, and the delivery of new functionality

You bring and will continuously build upon the following skills:

  1. 3+ years shown experience leading teams or large scale programs
  2. Preferred Insurance or Banking industry experience
  3. A deep, hands-on, background in modern software development and practices
  4. An entrepreneurial spirit and comfort working within a rapidly changing startup environment; you love the challenge of working on a small team and being part of a larger movement to change the engineering culture of an enterprise
  5. Strong project management experience (planning, estimation, building roadmaps, hiring and building your teams for required deliverables, etc.)
  6. Familiarity with agile and DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other approaches to accelerate the delivery of new features
  7. Developing engineers and a passion for growing staff within the organization
  8. Experimenting with emerging technologies and understanding how they will impact what comes next
  9. A capacity for constant learning from both success and failure, remaining open to change and continuous improvement
  10. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities that enable you to manage through creative abrasion
  11. Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively articulate and communicate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes across all levels in the organization
  12. Understanding of the fundamentals of capital markets or financial services in support of our service or product offerings (or are ready to learn by doing)

  1. Languages such as React, NodeJS, AKS and Azure platform

Salary range is expected to be between

$110,530.00 CAD - $205,270.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
