The DISTRICT OF CENTRAL SAANICH is seeking a PROJECT COORDINATOR, FACILITIES, Engineering Department.Competition Number 2025-05Internal Competition(Classification Band 10)You must be a current employee, as per Article 5.02, with the District of Central Saanich to be considered for this vacancy.The District of Central Saanich invites applications from current, qualified District of Central Saanich employees interested in the PROJECT COORDINATOR, FACILITIES position.JOB OVERVIEWReporting to the Manager, Parks, Facilities and Fleet, the Project Coordinator, Facilities is responsible for the planning, coordination, and management of facilities-related projects and maintenance activities to ensure reliable, functional, and efficient operations of the District's built infrastructure. The incumbent supervises the Facilities staff and oversees capital projects. The incumbent will play a critical role in advancing asset management practices, maintaining regulatory compliance, optimizing resource utilization, and contributing to the organization's strategic goals.Knowledge and Experience:Completion of a Red Seal trade certification, relevant diploma, or equivalent training and experience, combined with a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities or asset management, including supervisory responsibilities. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Demonstrated experience in managing capital projects and overseeing maintenance operations.A valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License.Other:This role is required to be on call for certain periods of time;This role is required to work outside of regular work hours, as operationally needed, to attend and support Council meetings and public engagement events. Hours of work may be from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm as required;The hourly pay rate for this regular, full-time 7 hour per day, Monday to Friday position is $46.99-50.82 (2024 rates). If you need an accommodation for any part of the hiring process, please reach out to Human Resources.The District of Central Saanich thanks employee applicants for their interest in this role, and advises that only those candidates under active consideration will be contacted.Illustrative DutiesPerforms project management coordination, including the preparation of reports, project plans, monitoring schedules, budgets and technical aspects for compliance, working toward ensuring successful project outcomes;Oversees the contract management lifecycle including drafting, reviewing, negotiating and ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions;Supervises the Facilities staff providing guidance, support, and performance feedback;Centralizes facilities operations to optimize resource utilization and service delivery;Develops and implements maintenance processes to enhance operational efficiency, minimize equipment downtime, and reduce operational costs;Contributes to the development of long-term strategic plans for facilities management;Tracks and reports on key performance indicators for facilities maintenance and capital projects;Collaborates with cross-functional teams to align facilities management activities with broader organizational goals;Follows all corporate policies and processes;Actively participates in emergency duties in the event of an emergency or disaster;Performs other related duties as required.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExcellent customer service skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships;Comprehensive knowledge of facilities asset management, maintenance practices, and operational planning;Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and coach staff effectively;Strong project management skills to see a project from inception to completion;Ability to carry out project planning and develop cost estimates for construction projects or maintenance programs;Knowledge of contract management practices including but not limited to Prime Contractor designation;Knowledge of related regulatory requirements and workplace safety standards;Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts;Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;Excellent verbal and written communication skills;Strong knowledge of computerized administrative software and office technology such as MS Office Suite;Ability to work independently, oversee multiple priorities, and deliver results under tight deadlines;Identify and participate in opportunities for process improvements;Ability to work positively toward advancing First Nations relations;Ability to promote and contribute to a positive, diverse and inclusive team environment;Ability to attend meetings after regular business hours as required.RequirementsEducation and Experience:Completion of a Red Seal trade certification, relevant diploma, or equivalent training and experience, combined with a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities or asset management, including supervisory responsibilities.Demonstrated experience in managing capital projects and overseeing maintenance operations.A valid Class 5 B.C.
