Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) Systems & Contract Manager Full-time Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are undertaking the design, build, and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package. As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030. The project will strengthen Ontario’s economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction. What is the project? A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River). Stations: One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station. Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations. Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown). The MEP/Systems Interface Contract Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the correct adherence to the interface protocols and proper implementation of the contractual provisions between Ontario Line South and RSSOM projects along with the Contracting Authority, and interface with other third parties as a result of the Ontario Line South project needs. They work under the supervision of the Project-Wide Contract Lead and in close collaboration with the Design Contracts Manager and rest of Contracts Management team. They are a key contributor to project success by protecting OTG’s commercial position and entitlements on all matters related to MEP/Systems interface. What you will do: Track and manage contractual events, ensuring accurate documentation and timely communication. Participate in assessment and definition of commercial positions relative to MEP and/or Systems interface obligations and entitlements under the different contracts with the Contracting Authority and subcontractors/consultants. Ensure compliance with contract and subcontracts both upstream and downstream with the Contracting Authority and subcontractors/consultants respectively. Ensure the maintenance of trackers with the correspondences, notifications, variations, delay notices and compensation events, both upstream with the Contracting Authority and downstream with subcontractors/consultants, as well as liaise with the rest of the contracts team, operations team and design team to respond and submit notifications within the deadlines set out in the contracts. Demonstrate proficiency in commercial processes and adeptly write contractual and technical letters addressed to the client, subcontractors/consultants and stakeholders. Ability to provide advice on commercial strategy. Substantiate costs associated with contractual events by gathering invoices, cost breakdowns, and other pertinent documentation. Collect information regarding impact assessments for Variation Directives, contributing to informed decision‑making processes. Coordinate with the different teams and stakeholders to gather the required information. Play an integral role in Schedule Analysis, comprehending schedule logic and identifying changes to facilitate project coordination. Thoroughly review all reports, including construction reports, to ensure accuracy and completeness of information. Review subcontractor/consultant claims to verify their inclusion in the appropriate channels (variations, delay, compensation events) and address any discrepancies. Review payment applications to validate the accuracy of invoiced amounts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations. Negotiation of entitlement to variations with both upstream with the client and downstream with the supply chain. Chair weekly contract management meetings with the interface team to create contract awareness and address contractual matters. Daily and weekly tracking of progress. Use of Contract Administration Management System such as Unifier, Dalux, ASite, CEMAR, etc. Working with the project team to manage project activities to deliver the works on time, to budget and the specified quality. Promote company values in all dealings with other employees, clients, subcontractors and other external contacts. Qualifications 7-10 years' of proven experience in contract management, within the construction industry for large scale Projects. Experience required in the application of contractual provisions related to MEP requirements, both in design and construction phases. Experience required in interface management and implementation of contractual provisions related to interface protocols. Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree in similar field is preferred. Strong commercial and contractual acumen. Strong understanding of commercial processes and contract administration. Strong technical background in the field of MEP and/or SESA. Ability to review and understand design drawings and reports, concepts and changes across various disciplines, and their ramifications into interfacing obligations and entitlements. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to draft technical letters and reports. Proficiency in data analysis and cost substantiation techniques. Familiarity with scheduling software and the ability to interpret schedule logic. Attention to detail and ability to meticulously review documentation for accuracy. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team environment. Previous experience in construction of large‑scale projects particularly tunneling and stations, along with advanced understanding of contractual and technical terms. Strong negotiation and influencing skills. Strong presentation skills (written and verbal). Is this role for you?
