The successful candidate will join four other Family Physicians, one Nurse Practitioner, a Family Practice Nurse, one Social Worker, and a part-time Dietician.This office is in a brand-new space which offers ocean views This opportunity awaits the right candidate who is looking for the chance to join a busy and exciting collaborative practice.Job DescriptionServices:Alternative Level of Care unit (12 beds)cardiac respiratory servicesfamily medicinematernal and child servicesmedical unit (six beds)mental health and addiction services day programmidwife clinicoccupational therapypalliative care consultation servicephysiotherapyResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include but are not limited to:Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures;delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illnesswork with other providers in the clinic to provide cross coverage and same day accessparticipate in quality improvement and evaluation activitiesutilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR which is accessible to all collaborating team membersAdvise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease preventionConsultation and referral to other medical practitionersAct as a patient’s advocatePrescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinationsReport births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirementsFailte (that’s “welcome”, for those not up to speed on their Gaelic)Glace Bay, located on Cape Breton Island, is one of the communities in the Eastern Zone.
