Toronto, Canada Aecon Concessions Full time

Position Overview The Interface Manager is responsible for identifying, managing, and resolving interfaces across engineering, construction, and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of project milestones. This role requires strong coordination, communication, and problem‑solving skills, as well as a deep understanding of multidisciplinary project environments. The Interface Manager acts as a central point of contact between internal teams (design, engineering, construction, project controls) and external parties (client for the interfaces with them and other stakeholders through the client), ensuring all interface requirements are clearly defined, documented, and delivered.

What you will

do: Lead the identification, tracking, and management of all interfaces across design, construction, and external stakeholders. Support the development and maintenance of the project Interface Register, ensuring all dependencies, risks, and constraints are documented and updated. Facilitate cross‑disciplinary meetings and workshops to drive alignment and resolve interface‑related issues. Ensure all design disciplines have the necessary information to progress their work without delays.

Coordinate technical requirements, design inputs, drawings, and specifications between multiple teams. Create technical requirements from Interface Control Documents. Monitor the flow of interface information across engineering disciplines to avoid scope gaps or overlaps. Act as the primary point of contact for external interfaces, which are managed by the client, including utilities, municipalities, transit authorities, regulatory bodies, and adjacent infrastructure projects.

Support the preparation of submissions and technical documentation such as (ICD) and (Interface Management Plans). Identify interface‑related risks and work with project controls and engineering teams to develop mitigation strategies. Track open issues and follow through to resolution, escalating when necessary. Support configuration management processes by assessing interface impacts of scope changes.

Provide timely reporting on interface status, risks, and progress to senior leadership and project management. Contribute to schedule coordination, ensuring interface deliverables align with project timelines. Ensure compliance with project standards, safety requirements, and contractual obligations. What you bring: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

Professional designation (P. Eng., PMP, CET, or equivalent) is an asset. Familiarity with railway standards i.e. EN50126, ISO15288, CENELEC. 5+ years of experience in large‑scale infrastructure, transit, rail, or multi‑disciplinary engineering projects.

Proven experience coordinating cross‑functional technical teams and managing complex interfaces. Demonstrated experience with stakeholder engagement and navigating approvals or permitting processes. Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design workflows (civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, rail systems, utilities). Familiarity with project management software and tools (MS Office, SharePoint, or equivalent).

Experience

interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and design reports. Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. Strong problem‑solving abilities and a proactive, solution‑oriented mindset. Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain clarity in a fast‑paced environment.
