Decision Support Analyst Join to apply for the Decision Support Analyst Decision Support role at St. Michael's Hospital The Decision Support team provides analytical support to programs and services across Unity Health, as well as to key strategic, quality, performance and financial initiatives. The team is composed of highly trained, experienced and diverse professionals across the domains of analytics, data management and health information. We employ various analytical methods to support our clients in achieving their strategic and operational goals. Reporting to the Manager, Case Costing & Decision Support, the Decision Support Analyst will leverage strong analytical skills and an understanding of healthcare datasets to support clients in evidence‑informed decision‑making, performance monitoring and improvement. The Analyst will work collaboratively with the broader team to provide in‑depth analysis, insightful interpretation and presentation of data, while maintaining the appropriate technical specifications and documentation. Duties & Responsibilities Work closely with a team of Decision Support members to provide analysis, insights, and presentation of data, while maintaining technical specifications and conducting validity and data quality checks as needed on outputs. Support clinical and non-clinical clients in a variety of analytical needs, including development of robust analytical plans, statistical analysis, key performance indicators, benchmarking, data visualisations, and routine and ad‑hoc reporting. In partnership with clients, provide insightful interpretation to support strategic, operational, quality and improvement plans, incorporating data and information from a variety of sources (quantitative and qualitative) to enhance insight generation. Extract, transform and analyse complex information from a variety of database servers and clinical systems. Support reporting to and from external agencies and data portals (MOHLTC, funding agencies, CIHI, etc.). Adhere to internal policies and procedures, including protection of patient and employee confidentiality. Under direction of the manager and senior staff, consult with clients on analytical needs related to a variety of projects, including strategy, business cases, quality improvement, performance, funding, research and evaluation. Liaise with individuals at all levels of the organisation on projects, reports and other ad‑hoc requests. Provide expert advice and educate end users on data results and interpretation, with the goal of improving data literacy within the organisation. Make connections between data and core business and clinical concepts. Engage in data quality and other internal process improvement initiatives to support continuous improvement. Collaborate with key partners (IT, coding, clinical informatics, finance, HR, research, etc.) and peers to identify new data sources, incorporate them into analysis and explore innovative analytical/statistical techniques (predictive, simulation, optimisation models) that generate new insights. Identify areas of opportunity with respect to routine reporting to increase efficiency and reduce manual work. Commit to learning and growth and contribute to shared team educational goals. Contribute to process standardisation and tool development to support improvement within the department. Qualifications Undergraduate degree in an applicable field required (Health Informatics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Science, etc.). Master's degree (completed or in progress) in a related discipline is an asset. Three (3) or more years of experience in a decision-support or analytical environment required; healthcare experience preferred. Experience with hospital data (e.g., DAD, NACRS, OMHRS, NRS, CCRS) preferred. Knowledgeable within the health‑care environment and industry. Experience working in a complex data environment, including enterprise data warehouses and other relational databases, required. Demonstrated competency in qualitative and quantitative data analytics, visualisation and reporting. Demonstrated proficiency in using statistical and business intelligence tools such as SAS, SQL, Python and Tableau. Ability to analyse data and present complex information and recommendations in an easy‑to‑understand manner; excellent interpersonal, verbal and presentation skills. Strong problem‑solving, analytical and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated organisational and time‑management skills and ability to prioritise tasks in a complex, fast‑paced environment. Self‑starter with strong willingness to learn, teach and positively contribute in a team environment. Demonstrated attention to detail in day‑to‑day work with a focus on quality, accuracy and customer service. Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint).
