All duties must be carried out in accordance with pharmacy legislation and internal patient care/customer service policies and procedures.Pharmaceutical DistributionMaintain a safe and productive work environment through compliance with quality control policies and procedures for patients and staffProvide and supervise excellent professional service to all patients/customers to support safe patient careCreate and maintain complete patient profiles (medications, medical conditions, history, allergies, and documentation of patient care activities)Perform, supervise, and review drug preparation and distribution activities per policies and procedures (scanning, counselling areas, in/out areas, wait times)Address issues identified with prescriptions, patient care, and services within appropriate timeframesVerify completed prescriptions for accuracy and ensure pharmacist verification of personally filled prescriptionsProcess prescription adjudication and sales using pharmacy software and POS systemsEnsure prescriptions are verified for appropriateness of therapy before release (including technician checks)Provide patient counselling on prescription and non-prescription medications in accordance with practice standardsDocument patient care activities, including prescription processing and counsellingManage situations involving drug diversion or inappropriate useAdhere to quality assurance policies for job performance management and narcotics/controlled substances handlingUnderstand and follow medication and patient care incident protocols, including near missesManage pharmacy workflow from start to finish, including scanning, packaging, and counselling areasInventory management including narcotics and controlled drug management and disposalProfessional ServicesProvide and supervise excellent professional service to meet patients’ drug-related needs and improve outcomesWork with patients and other health care providers to deliver pharmacy servicesExplain healthcare benefits, logistics, and costs to customers/patientsProactively inform patients of services/programs offeredEducate patients and provide drug information to promote healthDocument services rendered and outcomes achievedAct as a Pharmasave ambassador through programs including clinics and community seminarsBuild professional relationships with patients, customers, other health care providers, and industry membersAdministration and ManagementLead and manage the Pharmacy team, including recruiting, training, performance management, and conflict resolutionEnsure compliance with provincial standards and college regulationsCreate and monitor dispensary shift schedulesMaintain privacy and confidentiality of patient informationMaintain inventory for patient care and efficient operationsMonitor and remove expired medications in accordance with provincial lawConduct inventory spot checks and manage out-of-stocks per store policiesComply with regulations to secure narcotics and store assetsKeep patient care areas clean, tidy, and organizedEnsure supplies are checked, restocked, and ordered as neededOrganize health information resources and ensure they are updated to support care and programsReview pharmacy communications from Pharmasave, regulators, and industry bodiesJob RequirementsQualifications and Personal RequirementsProof of current pharmacist licensure in good standing with the provincial CollegeCommitment to ongoing professional developmentProfessional attitude and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, suppliers, and others in the healthcare communityCompletion of any applicable Pharmacy Manager training as required by the provincial CollegeAbility to meet all eligibility requirements to assume the role of Pharmacy Manager as set by the provincial CollegeStrong leadership and communication skillsWorking ConditionsStanding for up to 8 hours a dayLifting/moving up to 30 lbsClimbing a ladder may be requiredOur MissionTo care with passion and warmth, taking a personal interest in your health.Our ValuesListening and learning to cultivate safe relationships.
