Black & McDonald is seeking a skilled and motivated Facilities Management & Operations (FMO) Supervisor to lead and support maintenance operations across military and other managed facilities. This role is ideal for a hands-on supervisor who brings strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and a commitment to safety and service excellence. The FMO Supervisor position will be based at the Vernon Military Cadet Camp client site located in Vernon, BC.A key component of this role includes conducting preventive maintenance inspections on mechanical, electrical, heating, and other equipment, and completing minor plumbing and repairs within their scope of expertise. The Supervisor must consistently uphold Black & McDonald’s high safety and quality standards while ensuring the same from all staff and subcontractors. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Supervise and coordinate activities of staff and subcontractorsCoordinate and oversee maintenance and construction activitiesPlan and execute work in accordance with Black & McDonald corporate safety policy and provincial regulationsPerform facility-related repairs or construction tasks as requested by the Project ManagerEstablish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work with other subcontractors or departmentsPrepare project estimatesMaintain a safe, respectful work environmentArrange and support appropriate training for workersRecommend personnel actions, including hiring and promotionsAdminister work orders from start to completionReview the accuracy of work order content prior to invoicingPrepare work progress and safety reports as requestedConduct preventive maintenance inspections on mechanical, electrical, heating, and plumbing systemsRead and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine requirementsRequisition of materials and suppliesResolve work-related issues and recommend process improvementsEnsure all team members and subcontractors adhere to Black & McDonald safety standardsCOMPETENCY REQUIREMENTSChange OrientationCommunicates EffectivelyContinuous LearningCustomer FocusHolds Self and Others AccountableProblem Solving and InnovationTeamwork and CollaborationValues and Respects OthersEDUCATION REQUIREMENTSCompletion of secondary school required4th Class Power Engineering certificationWORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS3-5 years of relevant field and supervisory experienceSKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTSMust be able to obtain Federal Security Clearance (required for work on military facilities)Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)Strong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent problem-solving abilitiesAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsAbility to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting/moving heavy materialsSkilled in using various hand and power toolsStrong supervisory, negotiation, planning, and scheduling abilitiesFormal training in supervisory responsibilitiesValid Class 5 or higher BC driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstractAbility to travel to various facilities within the BC Interior as neededThe expected salary range for this role is between $80,000-$90,000. The starting salary will be based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package.
