THE ROLE In this leadership role within the Engineering Core Team, the candidate will leverage their strong understanding of the general silicon engineering process, from concept to tape-out to production to manage and drive the execution activities of cross-disciplinary engineering functions developing semi-custom ASIC solutions in collaboration with one of AMD’s largest customers. Candidate would be part of leadership team running Chief Engineering Council (CEC) Forum. THE PERSON The Principal Silicon Design Engineer is a strategic leader with exceptional program management and organizational skills. The ideal candidate can collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams, engage with executive management, and is able to foster strong relationships with customers through direct interactions. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Candidate will plan out and drive the cross-functional execution of various engineering functions to enable best in class customer solutions. Drive AMD product solution deliverables and alignment with customer platforms to ensure highest level of customer satisfaction throughout the product lifecycle. Engages with technical leadership team to understand and document program scope, establish integrated schedules, assess, and manage program progress and risk, and create resource and budget plans. Represents the Semi-Custom Engineering organization in corporate and executive planning and execution forums Work with finance team, engineering team leads to keep the program budget on track Work with the Core Leadership team (Chief Engineer, BU heads, et al.), Product Architects, and relevant team members to ensure compliance to customer gate checklists & contract milestone attainment with business development team Must be well-organized, technically oriented, and a self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and coordinate the activities of geographically distributed technical teams Act as the “Voice of the Customer” while working with internal teams PREFERRED SKILLS Extensive Program Management experience Experience in product development with hardware platforms and related software ecosystem Demonstrated ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills Strong networking and social skills Able to influence horizontally across multiple internal functional organizations Excellent analytical, project planning, and management skills Proven ability to deliver large cross-functional strategic initiatives Quickly adapt to dynamic business and technical requirements Business savvy: ability to think strategically and make intelligent technical vs business trade-off recommendations. Skilled in interfacing with customers, partners and in managing joint-development projects. Energized by working in a fast-paced matrixed technical organization and multi-site environment ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electronics/Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
