Opportunity Job Class: Non‑Union Department: Developmental Services Hours/Shifts: Monday to Friday (varying 9am‑5pm, 11am‑7pm depending on program needs), rotating on‑call responsibilities Location: Toronto East Status: Full‑Time, Permanent Pay Rate: $63,000.00 $65,000.00 per annum Vacancy Number: DS‑NU25‑60 Number of vacancies: 1 Available: Immediately Position Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Supervisor, Developmental Services Homes to lead one of our two Supported Living Homes (SLH) in collaboration with a second Supervisor who leads the other home. Our two (2) SLH support ten individuals each. The program offers a unique and innovative approach to skills development and transition planning to men with developmental disabilities and/or dual diagnosis, 18 years of age, and older. We foster an inclusive and supportive environment within the home where people can create and achieve their individual goals. Skill development includes a range of areas from nutrition, budgeting, social networking, household management, self‑care, community safety and employment. This leadership role leads a team to deliver supports, counselling and life skills facilitation to the people we support to ensure a safe environment to learn and thrive. Leadership Leads and supports a team of up to 15 staff which include 1 Assistant Supervisor, 10 Residential Counsellors (full‑time, part‑time and relief), 2 Community Support staff and support to the Case Manager. Provides effective and clear communication and fosters a positive and healthy work environment. Through coaching, develops and supports staff to build and maintain their skills to ensure supported individuals and staff professional growth. Is accountable for recruitment, selection and onboarding of new staff, students and volunteers. Provides clear expectations and ongoing feedback to staff through informal day‑to‑day interactions as well as the formal probationary and annual Goal‑Setting process. Conducts on‑call duties on a rotational basis to support multiple housing programs. Program Management Provides guidance in the development of new and innovative programming content for those living in the SLH. In collaboration with the team, establishes and continuously reviews program practices that foster efficiency and align with best practices in independent living. Oversees and ensures that all current operational requirements are person‑centered and the program is in compliance with all Ministry and Agency mandates. Leads liaison with families in crisis and/or individual's circle of support to manage complex and changing needs. Community Development Manages and fosters relationships with Developmental Services Toronto partners, including funders, community agencies, service providers and local businesses. Sits on sector committees to review sector changes and service gaps. Strategic Planning Supports in the development, furthering and achievement of organizational and departmental strategic planning. Works on expansion models to begin servicing more participants through the Passport Initiative. Financial & Administrative Oversight Oversees budget expenditures to meet current and future program needs. Works with the Manager, Developmental Services and Finance team to review budget and address any variances. Submits required reports and documentation to stakeholders, including the Ministry of Children & Community Services. Who You Are Education / Experience Minimum 5 years' leadership experience directly managing and supervising staff in a unionized environment. Post‑Secondary Diploma or Degree in the Social Services. Demonstrated experience in managing family dynamics and crisis situations. Experience providing on‑call support. Direct experience engaging with diverse populations and an ability to apply a culturally responsive lens to all interactions, including with supported individuals, staff, and community partners. In‑depth experience working from a harm reduction framework when supporting individuals in service. Excellent understanding and working knowledge of how to support work‑life balance within 24‑hour operational teams. Skills / Knowledge Developmental Services Excellent understanding and working knowledge of legislation that affects Developmental Services, including the Social Inclusion Act and DS Reform Strategies. Strong understanding of Developmental Services housing sector. Program planning skills to implement, evaluate and modify new and existing programs as needed. Ability to understand and implement Quality Assurance Measures from MCCSS and meet service targets. Ability to undertake a fair and equitable recruitment and selection process. Leadership (again) Leadership skills to provide direction and motivation to staff, students, volunteers and individuals supported in order to maintain a smooth, professional and functioning program. Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with those we support, as well as with community agencies, funders and the public. Demonstrated ability to effectively address conflict in a respectful, solutions‑focused approach. Proven verbal and written communication skills in English to ensure clear, accurate and consistent documentation and messaging in both case management and administrative duties. Ability to write timely reports as required. Coaching skills with the ability to instruct, orient and train others clearly and with appropriate follow‑up. Delegation skills to ensure effective, timely service delivery and programming/operational requirements in conjunction with recognizing and enhancing needs of other team members. Ability to assess and respond to operational/programming issues (including staffing and determination of participants' suitability and risk). Time management skills to ensure that materials, files, reports are completed accurately on time and often on deadlines; to clarify priorities and modify schedules on demand.
