The stage has been set for Women’s to accelerate our priorities and capture the momentum to catapult our system forward to revolutionize healthcare for everyone.Applicants must reside and be legally eligible to work in Ontario.This is a Regular Full-Time OpportunityType: ReplacementAn exciting Regular Full-Time opportunity as an Appointed Analyst at ICES@UofT is available through the Women’s College Research Institute, reporting to the scientific project lead.The Appointed Analyst works collaboratively with internal ICES scientists on projects under supervision of the local lead analyst and the scientific project lead. The candidate will contribute significantly to the development of data set creation and analysis plans and will assume responsibility for all aspects of the data analysis for a research project. He/she will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of ICES data holdings and concepts of health services research.The incumbent will also act as a key resource to research teams at WCRI, supporting their work by providing statistical and methodological guidance and advice on an ad-hoc basis. Specifically, the incumbent will play a key role as a biostatistician, creating statistical analysis plans and performing analysis on research datasets (e.g. clinical), as required.Summary of duties, but not limited to:Work with the principal investigators and the research team in developing data set creation plans and analysis plans.Leads and performs analysis and data manipulation using relevant databasesCreate data collection plans and perform statistical modellingHelp design and evaluate new projects and assess the feasibility of proposed work.Develop SAS programs to extract and merge data from existing ICES databases according to data set creation plans and following ICES standards and guidelines.Prepare tables and reports and carry out statistical analyses according to specifications of project analysis plans.Advises internal and external teams on matters concerning data and data collection; provides support materials such as randomization lists, sample size and power calculations, and reliability assessmentsCommunicates with stakeholders and collaborators regarding study protocols and statistical issuesUses extensive methodological expertise (including advanced knowledge of study design and statistical concepts) to assist the investigator with all steps of the research process including the development of research protocols and strategiesProvide support materials such as randomization lists and reliability assessments.Complete program and project documentation according to approved standards and guidelines.Interpret results and have direct input into any manuscripts and other deliverables which may include writing grant proposals, graphics, or papers.Work towards developing, documenting, and sharing a body of knowledge around data sets, their use and methodology.Resolve data issues as they arise.Take the lead in developing macros and templates.Supervise and mentor trainees as well as junior analysts in the research program and contribute to educational activities.Participate in ICES meetings/rounds as applicable such as Analyst meetings, Research and Analysis rounds and local site meetings.As a role model and champion you will work to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.The responsibilities described above are representative and are not to be construed as all-inclusive.Qualifications:Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as biostatistics, epidemiology, or health services research (or related field) is requiredMinimum 5 years experience working with IC/ES data holdingsPrevious experience working with ICES data holdingsA comprehensive understanding of concepts of health services researchExcellent SAS programming skills including SQL and macro writingExperience programming in R and Python for data analysis is considered a strong asset.Proficiency and experience with administrative and registry data sets and with biostatistical analysisSkilled in linking, integrating, and manipulating data across multiple databases.Familiarity with observational studies and administrative health databasesUnderstanding of the concepts of health services researchComprehensive understanding of how to use administrative data in health services researchUnderstanding of basic UNIX commandsUnderstanding of biostatistical analytic techniques as applied to Health Services ResearchAbility to consult with researchers in planning a HSR project and creating a Data Creation PlanGood oral and written communication skillsProfessional behavior and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College HospitalThis position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for allWhy Choose Us?Be part of a dedicated team committed to excellence.Shape the future of healthcare in a supportive environment.Enjoy competitive benefits and an excellent defined benefit pension plan (HOOPP).Women's College Hospital is a fully affiliated teaching hospital of the University of Toronto and is committed to fairness and equity in employment and our recruitment and selection practices.
