You’ll guide the full design lifecycle – from discovery, shaping, ideation through to polished delivery – working closely with product management, software development and executive leadership to create intuitive and powerful design solutions that support complex workflows.You’ll create and leverage a wide range of design artifacts to explore, define, and validate solutions, and you’ll help elevate the broader design practice by mentoring others and embracing new methods, including AI, to improve efficiency and output.About The TeamAs part of the FME Form team, you’ll join a cross‑functional group of product managers, software developers, and designers who work closely together to shape Safe Software’s flagship product. The team is responsible for delivering powerful, intuitive experiences that make complex data integration workflows more approachable and effective. We value collaboration, open feedback, and shared ownership, and you’ll play a key role in ensuring design excellence and user‑centered thinking are embedded throughout the product development process.What You’ll Be DoingAs a Lead Product Designer, you will:Lead the end‑to‑end design process for major enterprise product initiatives, from collaborating on opportunity framing, design scoping, and hands‑on concept development to final design handoff and QA.Collaborate with and actively solicit feedback from product managers and technical stakeholders to prioritize opportunities, align on vision, scope features, and inform roadmap decisions.Apply sound judgment to determine when a solution warrants quick, tactical action (e.g., UI refinements, interaction polish) versus when to invest in deeper research and iterative design cycles—and clearly communicate that rationale to key stakeholders.Lead discovery workshops and design sprints with cross‑disciplinary teams to drive alignment and clarity.Design Craft & Technical FluencyWork closely with technical stakeholders and domain experts to absorb complex workflows that inform the user experience, and work through the complexity to distill into simpler solutions.Deliver a wide range of design artifacts, including:User flows, journey maps, storyboards, and diagrams to model workflows and key handoff points.Low‑fidelity sketches, wireframes, or rapid prototypes to collaboratively explore ideas and discuss trade‑offs.Diagrams to identify and address edge cases for highly technical workflows.Hi‑fidelity mockups and design specs.Leverage AI tools to expedite ideation, prototyping, research synthesis, and documentation, and continuously look for ways to optimize the design pipeline through experimentation and emerging technologies.User Research & ValidationConduct or collaborate on mixed‑methods user research and translate research insights and behavioral data into clear, actionable, and concrete design directions.Provide support/guidance for design peers, while striking a balance between providing support when needed and giving IC designers autonomy and empowering them to grow.Qualifications, Skills, and CompetenciesSafers come from a variety of backgrounds with a diversity in skills and knowledge. That said, we find that those who are most successful in this role have experience with the following areas.Required skills:5+ years of UX/product design experience with a strong portfolio of enterprise, B2B or technical product work.Experience designing complex workflows or tools for developers, analysts, data engineers, or other technical users.Comfortable engaging in technical conversations and synthesizing technical information and incorporating it into human‑centered designs.
