Description This position is part of the Association of Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA). The successful candidate will receive a tenured or tenure‑track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Application areas include, but are not limited to: Digital logic circuits and VLSI systems Design automation of general‑purpose computer systems Hardware/software co‑design for AI and ML Domain‑specific hardware for accelerators Embedded computing Hardware security and cybersecurity High‑performance computing Cyber‑physical systems and IoT Reconfigurable computing Chiplets and ASICs Edge and cloud computing Quantum computing Emerging technologies for computing and memory Responsibilities Teaching (40%): Participate in teaching programs, including classroom teaching, supervision of research students, and student advising. Design course content in accordance with departmental standards and licensure requirements. Research (40%): Conduct creative research and disseminate results through publications and presentations. Seek funding from external agencies. Service (20%): Engage in service to the university, department, and broader community. Participate in governance and outreach activities. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications PhD in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related field. Peer‑reviewed publications in reputable journals and conferences. Licensure or eligibility for Professional Engineer or Licensee in Alberta (within five years of hire). Effective teaching and communication skills. Strong written and verbal communication. Preferred / Asset Industry experience and interdisciplinary research. Experience managing large multi‑year projects. Community partnership experience. Lab and facility management. Teaching experience and training. Grant application experience.
