Assistant Professor – Sociocultural Studies of Physical Activity and Health 5 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants The Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education (KPE) at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full‑time tenure‑stream appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2026. Responsibilities Develop an innovative, independent, and externally funded research programme that demonstrates excellence in publications, presentations, funding, and impact on practice or policy. Contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching and student mentorship, fostering opportunities for student‑led research. Engage in teaching activities that may include workshops, seminars, and conference presentations, and translate teaching expertise into doctoral programs. Provide service through participation on faculty‑related committees. Qualifications Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Kinesiology or a relevant social science field by the date of appointment. Demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching; evidence of intersectional anti‑oppression approaches is a strong asset. Strong research statement and endorsements from referees of high standing. Evidence of teaching excellence through a teaching dossier, philosophy, syllabi, evaluations, or similar documentation. Selection Process The selection process will include scholarship reviews, interviews, a research seminar, and meetings with faculty and students. Candidates will be assessed on scholarship, research, teaching, and service. Salary Salary Will Be Commensurate With Qualifications And Experience. The Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education has a culturally diverse student body of more than 1,000 undergraduates and 140 graduate students, and 35 faculty members across disciplinary backgrounds.
