Location: Halifax – Wilkinson, Canada (Hybrid) Thales Canada, Defense & Security is looking for a Program Engineer – Electrical to support its Non‑Combatant In‑Service Support Programs for the Royal Canadian Navy, mainly the AOPS and JSS In‑Service (AJISS) Program. As part of the AJISS Engineering team, the Program Engineer – Electrical will support the Coastal Support team and the Service Delivery team with management of defects for the AOPVs and JSS. The role also supports the greater Engineering and Supportability Teams with margin management, creation of deviations & waivers, and surveys onboard ships. The role may also support Minor War & Auxiliary vessels (MWAV) program, involving defect rectification surveys and implementation of engineering changes. This position is hybrid and based in Halifax, NS. Key Areas of Responsibility Developing and reviewing electrical and electronic system technical documentation including equipment specifications, installation and maintenance job instructions. Conducting technical investigations into problems associated with electrical system, equipment and/or software issues, including root cause analyses, risk assessments and solution development. Preparing documented work scopes associated with defect investigation/resolution, suitable for solicitation of quotations from external resources such as OEMs, manufacturers, suppliers, testing facilities or specialist service providers. Developing and/or approving technical work instructions. Coordinating with other Thales staff (Mechanical, Combat Systems, Hull Engineering and Naval Architecture staff) and/or subcontractors to achieve agreed outcomes within delegated authorities and responsibilities. Analyzing requirements associated with baseline changes to ship configuration, equipment and software. Conducting electrical load design calculations. Supporting the Engineering Team for engineering change process. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronics engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer in Nova Scotia, Canada. Minimum 5 years of demonstrated marine work experience within the last 10 years. Preferred Qualifications 8 years of demonstrated marine work experience within the last 15 years. Previous experience with the Royal Canadian Navy or Canadian Coast Guard. Experience in delivering marine in‑service support of operational assets. Experience working with a defense contract. Demonstrated project management experience. Familiar with project management tools such as Jira. Knowledge of French (desirable as a first or second language, with English second or first). Special Position Requirements Schedule: 40 hours per week. Work Location: Hybrid – about 80% from the Thales office or dockyard, 20% from home. Travel: Occasional domestic or international travel may be required in support of the ships.
