Role and Facility Information Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 158‑bed Acute Care facility in the Okanagan Health Service Area, serving a population of approximately 90,000 people. PRH provides core medical and surgical specialty services, including 24‑hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Acute Services, Ambulatory and Out‑patient Clinics, and Diagnostic/Paramedical Services. As a secondary referral centre for the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valley, PRH offers excellent radiology availability with on‑site Computed Tomography (CT) and part‑time Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI). The hospital also includes a seven‑bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and serves as a referral base for hematology/transfusion medicine for nearby facilities. In April 2019, PRH opened phase one of the David E. Kampe Tower, a new patient‑care tower with surgical services, ambulatory care, and space for the UBC Faculty of Medicine Program. Phase two is scheduled for completion in December 2021. Practice Details Excellent opportunity for Child and Youth Psychiatrists to practice in a welcoming community setting with endless lifestyle opportunities. Two positions are available at the Penticton Regional Hospital. You will join a dedicated team of six psychiatrists providing comprehensive, client‑centered care. The 16‑bed Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (IPU) offers Acute Mental Health and Substance Use services in a safe, secure facility for the South Okanagan region. Additional programs include Short‑Term Counseling, Community Case Management, Vocational Rehabilitation, Physical Activation, Anxiety and Depression, DBT groups, Seniors Mental Health, and Rural Outreach. Community child and youth mental health services provide individual and group counseling, DBT programs, and integrated psychiatric services. The role includes teaching medical students and participating in quality improvement and program development activities. The call requirement is approximately 5‑6 days a week with rotating weekends, and the position is remunerated at MOCAP Level 2. Terms Compensation Type: Combination Estimated Remuneration: $250,000 – $400,000 Physician Overhead: No overhead cost Benefits and Incentives Relocation Funding Available: $9,000 – $15,000. Relocation Assistance is applicable for full‑time positions and based on move location (with eligible receipts). Part‑time opportunities may receive a pro‑rated reimbursement. Incentives are subject to change; current rates are confirmed at the time of offer.
