After School Support – LTO – 5 hrs per week – Preston Public School Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) serves approximately 65,000 students in 123 schools. We offer a Before and After School Support (B.A.S.S.) role that pairs you with a Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE) to support play‑based programming for students in junior kindergarten to grade 6. The role involves supervision, fostering positive interactions, encouraging self‑regulation, supporting learning, and meeting licensing requirements. Responsibilities Support and supervise children in play‑based programming, including indoor, outdoor, active play, rest, and quiet time. Promote positive, respectful interactions among children, parents, childcare providers, and staff. Encourage communication, self‑regulation, exploration, inquiry, and learning experiences. Ensure safety, health, nutrition, and well‑being of children; follow First Aid, Public Health, and emergency procedures. Maintain compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act and licensing requirements. Foster ongoing communication with parents and maintain an inclusive, anti‑oppressive, anti‑racist culture. Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent educational attainment. Prior experience supervising and supporting children in a safe, positive environment. Valid First Aid with CPR Level C/AED or willingness to obtain. Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) within 6 months (new employees) or 5 years (current employees). Completed Licensed Child Care Staff Record requirements (Public Health assessment, etc.). Benefits and Conditions of Employment Extended‑day B.A.S.S. employment ratio/standard applies. Mandatory health and safety training; may be required to work on PD days and breaks. Regular performance reviews and professional development opportunities.
