Reporting to the Manager, Metering & Technical Services, this position plays a key role in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of metering systems and associated distribution equipment.This is an on-site position at 1340 Brant Street, Burlington, and is a unionized role governed by the collective agreement.What You Will DoComplete all tasks safely, efficiently, and in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Electrical Utility Safety Rules, and Burlington Hydro policies and proceduresSupport the design, planning, coordination, operation, and maintenance of all metering systems in accordance with Measurement Canada, ESA, OEB, IESO, and other regulatory requirementsInstall, remove, test, and maintain metering equipment and systems, including troubleshooting and verifying accuracyInterrogate and program meters, resolve communication issues, and develop solutions for mesh and point-to-point networksInvestigate and resolve customer complaints related to metering or power quality issuesPerform standby/on-call duties as the first responder to customer outage or fluctuating power callsCollaborate with other departments to resolve customer issues and provide technical supportMaintain documentation, records, and reports as requiredUtilize Burlington Hydro’s Customer Information System and meter data management systems to access, analyze, and update customer and metering dataCommunicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, contractors, and employeesAll other duties as assignedWhat We Are Looking ForCertified Journeyperson Meter Technician under the MEARIE program or equivalent certificationElectrical Engineering Technology diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution, or equivalent work experienceValid G Class Ontario driver’s licence with a clean abstractWhat You’ll Need to Be SuccessfulStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with employees, customers, and the publicPhysical fitness to safely perform work, including climbing, working at heights, working in confined spaces, and outdoors in all weather conditionsWillingness and ability to participate in regular emergency call-outs, on-call rotation, and work under emergency conditions, with the ability to arrive on-site within one hour of being calledCommitment to safety, including participation in Rescue Drills, First Aid, and Health & Safety trainingProficiency with MS Office and the ability to learn new software and systemsSolid knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and best practicesReliable, energetic, and motivated with a proven safety and attendance recordWho We AreSince 1945, Burlington Hydro has been powering the growth of Burlington with reliability, empathy and innovation.
