Senior/Intermediate Structural Engineer

Senior/Intermediate Structural Engineer (Facilities – Ports and Marine) Apply to join Dillon Consulting Limited as a Senior/Intermediate Structural Engineer. This role focuses on the design, analysis, and management of structural engineering projects across ports and marine facilities, with office locations in St. John’s NL, London ON, Sydney NS, Fredericton NB, and Saint John NB. Key responsibilities include: Design Lead design on structural projects, including new-build and renovation in ports, marine, industrial, and institutional markets. Prepare technical specifications, drawing details, and review designs for code compliance. Conduct condition assessments of existing structures. Review shop drawings and provide field support. Manage discipline budgets and schedules. Coordinate with multi-discipline teams to integrate structural scope. Project Management Coordinate engineering team activities and support project managers. Facilitate productivity workflows and maintain project schedules. Co‑ordinate with sub‑consultants and clients. Business Development Deliver quality client services and expand Dillon services. Contribute to proposals, new business opportunities, and cross‑selling. Travel for business as required. Innovation Provide technical expertise for new tools and innovative project solutions. Learning & Development Commit to professional growth and mentor junior staff. Participate in professional associations and committees. Qualifications Degree in structural/civil engineering; graduate degree an asset. Licensed as a professional engineer in Newfoundland, Ontario, Nova Scotia, or New Brunswick. At least ten years’ experience in structural design, particularly in marine and industrial segments. Full range of design activities: preliminary and detail drawings, reports, contract documents, and tendering. Knowledge of applicable codes and standards. Proficiency in STAAD Pro, Risa 3D, Structure Point; familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil3D and Revit. Strong Microsoft Office skills. Excellent technical report and specification writing. Capability to manage multiple concurrent projects. Experience Design of reinforced concrete, masonry, wood, and structural steel, preferably with steel sheet pile wall experience. Design of wharfs, ports, marine infrastructure, industrial and commercial facility builds and retrofits, water/wastewater facilities, and liquid‑containing concrete tanks.
