Automotive Service Technician - Temporary - 3 positionsThe Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Bureau Commander of Fleet, Supply & Weapons Services Bureau requires a qualified individual to join our Fabricating/Equipping unit. In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will perform preventative maintenance, equipment/systems installation and removal, and repairs for the OPP vehicle fleet.The results of this competition will be used to fill current and future opportunities with qualified eligible candidates during the next 12 months following the competition closing. There are no provisions for relocation, accommodation or travel (including meals or vehicles) for this position. A Garage Operations General Manager, who reports directly to the Bureau Commander, Fleet, Supply & Weapons Services Bureau (FSWSB), heads the section. The General Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the garage and staff.Top PrioritiesRoll out of MWS & GPS equipped vehicles to the field.GHQ vehicle repairs as well as special repairs to local area detachments.RTR pool - maintain adequate supply of equipped vehicles for emergency and regular replacement of front-line patrol units.Facilitating the roll out of Fleet Diversity to better meet the requirements of officers in the field.The OPP Values promote always doing the right things for the right reasons, by:Serving with PRIDE, PROFESSIONALISM and HONOUR.Interacting with RESPECT, COMPASSION and FAIRNESS.Leading with INTEGRITY, HONESTY and COURAGE.About the jobTo perform preventative maintenance, equipment/systems installation and removal, and repairs for the OPP vehicle fleet.What you bring to the teamMandatory requirementsAbility to pass an OPP background/ security investigation.Must possess an Automotive Technician 310S or 310T or equivalent Certificate of Qualification.Must possess a valid/current Ozone Depletion Certificate.Must possess a valid Driver\'s Licence Class G.Must possess own tools.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of automotive technology, technical manuals, diagnostic procedures and techniques and specialized equipment to determine the nature and extent of vehicle problems, and to perform maintenance and repair to various automotive systems.Knowledge of vehicles\' electrical systems, emergency lighting systems, wiring component locations, wiring and routing techniques and schematic, air bag restraint systems and all other mechanical components to perform repairs and equipment/systems installations and removals.Knowledge of WHMIS and the Occupational Health and Safety Act to safely perform servicing, maintenance and repair of vehicles and trailers.Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills to perform mechanical and electrical diagnoses and troubleshooting.Ability to identify and evaluate appropriate test procedures and determine how to approach and carry out technical modifications and adjustments.Ability to evaluate whether repairs can be made on equipment and/or parts must be replaced.Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.Don\'t meet every qualification?If you are excited about this position and meet most, but not all, of the listed qualifications, please still consider applying.
