Supplier Quality Specialist – ATS Industrial Automation Join to apply for the Supplier Quality Specialist role at ATS Industrial Automation. Major Duties Lead the charge in sourcing and developing top‑tier suppliers, providing expert guidance on technology, performance, quality, cost, logistics, and delivery. Partner closely with engineering teams and suppliers to drive innovation while elevating process and quality standards. Monitor industry advancements and recommend technologies that enhance cost effectiveness, product quality, and supply chain reliability. Be a catalyst for change by contributing to ongoing continuous improvement initiatives. Work directly with suppliers to boost their quality output and shipping performance. Champion ABM initiatives. Conduct supplier audits to ensure full compliance with relevant industry standards and certifications (ISO 9001, CSA N299, CSA N285, NQA‑1). Specific Responsibilities Strictly follow CSA N285/NQA quality requirements as defined within the manual and procedures. Improve existing suppliers’ KPIs (e.g., OTD, conformance to specifications, receiving issues). Perform rough‑cut capacity planning and resolve gaps at ATS‑approved suppliers. Benchmark new potential suppliers (pre‑audit). Deliver supplier scorecards and follow up. Ensure ongoing supplier engagement and compliance with change management. Maintain knowledge of technological developments and trends to guide commodity teams in design, quality, and manufacturing improvements. Coach Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Procurement organizations to drive cost‑effective improvements (VA/VE) and reduce waste. Identify “value‑add” opportunities within the existing supply base. Support product sourcing strategy and lead technical evaluations for new supplier selection. Assist with new business ramp‑up (drawing reviews, inspection plans, etc.). Help the Quality Department resolve SCARs, complex NCRs, and conduct external supplier training and audits as assigned. Review and approve FAI’s, deviations, process change notifications, and corrective actions. Identify cost‑saving opportunities. Travel to local and international destinations as required. Qualifications Education: Post‑secondary technology diploma or equivalent in toolmaking, machining, welding, mechanical engineering, or a related field. ASQ CQE, ASQ SSBB, or equivalent work experience. Nuclear auditor training and qualification. Experience: Six Sigma experience (asset). Strong problem‑solving skills. Ability to work as part of a cross‑functional team. Understanding of change‑management principles and change‑agent skills. Experience with JD Edwards or similar ERP systems – data mining and report generation. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. At least 5 years in a nuclear or other highly regulated industry. At least 5 years of quality‑assurance engineering experience in manufacturing and/or fabrication. Experience with nuclear requirements relating to quality and inspection plans. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects across diverse organizations. Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, N299, NQA‑1, 10CFR 50, 10CFR 21, N285, N286, B51, and ASME Section III guidelines. Commercial‑grade dedication background and experience. Certification to Jaeger‑1 Test Chart and Bausch & Lomb Vision test (color, far‑ and near‑distance). Why Join ATS Industrial Automation?
