We are seeking a passionate and visionary Staff Product Designer to not only maintain our design system but to elevate it into a strategic advantage that accelerates our entire product organization through technical design expertise and strategic systems thinking. This high‑impact role is for a systems‑thinker excited to build tools that empower dozens of designers and engineers to do their best work. As the Staff Product Designer for Design Systems, you will be the deep domain expert and a key craft leader. You will own the roadmap, drive technical design strategy, and forge a partnership with engineering to build a robust, scalable, and user‑friendly system. You will be its chief advocate, evangelizing its value and driving adoption to create a cohesive, accessible, and beautiful experience for every Questrade customer. Drive the Design System Vision & Strategy Define and communicate a clear, compelling vision and strategic roadmap for the AllSparks Design System, aligning it with product and business goals. Be the strategic IC owner of the end‑to‑end lifecycle of the design system, from discovery and component design to documentation, release, and ongoing maintenance. Establish and govern a clear contribution and adoption model, making it easy for product teams to use the system and contribute back. Measure and articulate the system’s success, tying its adoption to measurable improvements in product quality, team efficiency, and speed‑to‑market. Deliver Design & Operational Excellence Lead as the primary hands‑on designer for robust and scalable components, ensuring everything we build meets the highest usability, accessibility, and craft standards. Create and maintain world‑class documentation that is clear, comprehensive, and empowers designers and developers. Partner closely with engineering to ensure designs translate flawlessly into code. Continuously research and introduce new tools, methodologies, and best practices to improve quality and efficiency. Influence Team & Cross‑Functional Success Act as the primary advocate and evangelist for the Design System across the organization. Build strong partnerships with product, engineering, and brand teams to anticipate needs and foster a cohesive experience. Coach system contributors, providing actionable critique and guidance to designers, focusing on systems thinking and component craft. Elevate the entire team’s work by establishing highest standards of quality, process, and technical implementation. Lead engaging design reviews, workshops, and training sessions to educate teams and drive consistent adoption. Technical Skills Expert proficiency in Figma with advanced variants, auto‑layout, and component properties for scalable design systems. Strong understanding of front‑end development and ability to hold technical conversations with engineering partners. Deep knowledge of accessibility standards and how to build accessible components from the ground up. Experience creating and maintaining comprehensive design system documentation that developers and designers love to use. Leadership & Collaboration You excel at designing reusable solutions for the most complex challenges. You build strong relationships and influence design direction and best practices across teams. You can clearly articulate the “why” behind the design system, connecting its value to business outcomes. You mentor and coach system designers through technical direction and hands‑on guidance, leading by example and elevating craft. Experience & Track Record 7+ years of product design (UX/UI) experience, with at least 3 years in a Staff/Senior individual‑contributor role focused on driving and scaling a design system. A strong portfolio with detailed case studies showcasing your direct, hands‑on process for building and scaling a design system, and its impact on product quality and team efficiency. Proven track record of launching and providing deep design expertise for a design system in a complex product organization.
