When you are part of Magellan, you are part of the teamPosition SummaryMagellan Aerospace has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time permanent Manager, Occupational Health and Safety at our plant in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Manager, Occupational Health and Safety serves as the division’s management representative for Health & Safety, providing guidance, driving programs, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role leads the Emergency Response Team, directs Health & Safety staff, supports training and environmental operations, and contributes to divisional strategic planning and continuous improvement of the Health & Safety management system.Essential ResponsibilitiesDesigns, implements and administers a health, safety & disability management program for Magellan Aerospace Winnipeg.Ensure internal Health & Safety KPI’s, such as lost time injury rates and near-miss occurrences, are in place and reviewed to monitor and measure overall performance.Identify and implement corrective actions required to overcome potential deficiencies.Have knowledge of ISO 45001 and assess the overall effectiveness of the company’s Health & Safety management system. Communicate effectiveness and provide recommendations for improvement. Report outcomes to Senior Management.Develops and implements companywide fire and emergency management plans. Ensures plans are appropriately communicated and necessary support training plans are implemented.Function as Laser Safety Officer and manage the laser safety program for company processes involving laser processes.Maintain Company Safety Management System in Compliance with Safe Work Certified Requirements, through Made safe.Maintain and monitor company’s internal, external, and corporate safety audits.Monitor and audit company compliance with applicable safety, health and fire legislation/regulations and recommend appropriate actions to ensure compliance.Position RequirementsDiploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Standard First Aid/CPR certification.Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Health & Safety management.Strong knowledge of Health & Safety processes, procedures, methodologies, and applicable legislation/regulations, including fire codes.Experience with emergency response procedures, first aid, and hazard recognition, with the ability to recommend corrective measures.Experience developing and delivering Health & Safety training programs.Familiarity with investigative methods, including root cause analysis and corrective action.Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing and/or a unionized workplace is an asset.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.Strong time management and prioritization skills.Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, and prioritization skills.Ability to work efficiently both independently and within a team environment.Why Magellan?Competitive salaryAttractive benefit packageGenerous company pension planExcellent career progression opportunitiesEmployee assistance planOn-site parking, cafeteria, and gymConfidentialityMagellan Aerospace respects the privacy and confidentiality of personal information provided by candidates and shall not disclose to any external parties unless legislated.Equal Employment OpportunityMagellan Aerospace is committed to an inclusive working environment and equal opportunities for all.
