THE ROLE: The Multimedia Drivers team is responsible for demonstrating AMD’s hardware capabilities to enable the development of compelling, responsive, high quality multimedia applications that don’t drain your system’s battery life. As heterogeneous compute continues to grow within the industry, Multimedia is a key component in the development of cutting‑edge technology to enable the best possible visual experience. THE PERSON: As a Senior Software Development Engineer on our team, your key responsibility will be to design, develop, validate and maintain Microsoft Windows and/or Linux Device Drivers, APIs, SDKs and Apps for current and future generations of AMD Graphics Processing Units (GPU) and Accelerated Processing Units (APU), with focus on Multimedia functional areas. The ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering and possess leadership skills to drive sophisticated issues to resolution. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with AMD’s architecture specialists to improve future products Design and implement device driver for new AMD GPU/APU products Craft and build Multimedia functionality to support new HW, SW or OS specifications Stay informed of software and hardware trends and innovations, especially pertaining to algorithms and architecture Participating in newASICand hardware bring ups in simulation and on new hardware Debug/fixissuesand research alternative, more efficient ways to accomplish the same work PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Strong object-oriented programming background, C/C++ preferred Device driver or firmware development experience Experience with simulation, emulation, and FPGA prototyping Experience with Windows, Linux and/or Android operating system development Knowledge of video CODEC standards H.264, HEVC, AV1 Experience with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers is a plus Effective communication and problem‑solving skills ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: University Degree or Post Graduate Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.
