With a rich history and strong presence in the IT services and solutions industry, Improving Calgary, formerly known as Quadrus, has been serving Canada for over twenty years before becoming part of Improving in 2013.What You’ll DoLead application modernization initiatives, transforming legacy systems into modern AWS-based architecturesDesign cloud-native and event-driven solutions, selecting appropriate AWS services and patternsGuide teams on architecture, modernization approach, and technical tradeoffsCollaborate directly with clients and stakeholders, explaining solutions and influencing decisionsMentor and support developers, including occasional hands-on prototyping or example implementationsContribute to discovery and planning, evolving high-level architecture into detailed technical designsStay current on modern development practices, including AI-assisted development, and help teams adopt them thoughtfullyNote: For this initial project, the client requires consultants to be on-site five days a week.Requirements7+ years of experience in modernizing existing applicationsDeep understanding of modern application architecture (microservices, event-driven systems, APIs)Background as a senior engineer or architect who can still code when neededIdeal Candidates will also haveJava / Spring Boot experienceFamiliarity with Step FunctionsInfrastructure-as-code exposure (Terraform or CloudFormation)Experience designing solutions using Kafka or cloud-native alternatives such as AWS Kinesis, Amazon MSK, or similar event streaming platformsExperience mentoring teams during modernization effortsPassion for learning new technologies and implementing AI into their workflowsStrong client-facing and consulting skills #J-18808-Ljbffr
