This position can be located in either Vancouver or Calgary. You will also contribute to the coordination and execution of field programs and associated data analysis and reporting of Hatfield’s environmental management projects.The ideal candidate will have formal training in hydrogeology and hands‑on experience with groundwater modelling. This position has considerable scope for career development and advancement; over time, you will support or lead the training of colleagues in quantitative, science‑based data analysis and provide innovative solutions to complex problems.ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with Hatfield’s Health and Safety Management Plan, the law, and client health and safety protocols.Support and participate in groundwater modelling projects led by our numerical modelling team.Implement and participate in field programs required for hydrogeologic monitoring.Support ongoing data management (e.g., review of near‑real‑time telemetry, continuous and periodic water level, and lab data) and reporting to clients and regulatory agencies (draft technical report sections and data summaries).Support research and analytical tasks including data collection, compilation, analysis, statistical and deterministic modelling.Communicate technical information efficiently and effectively (verbal and written).Education and ExperienceM.Sc. or higher in sciences or engineering with hydrogeology experience.Eligible for registration with EGBC as a geoscientist or engineer in training.Relevant hydrogeological work experience is an asset.Demonstrated experience with, or interest in, groundwater modelling software (e.g., MODFLOW, FEFLOW, Groundwater Vistas) or related tools.Experience and interest in field work. Field work in remote locations may be required.Fluent verbal communication and ability to write concisely.A valid Canadian driver’s license for the past three years, experience driving a pickup truck and the ability to meet the requirements for our third‑party automobile insurance policy.Other Assets/SkillsExperience with data handling and analysis, particularly Aquarius, R, Python, GIS.Strong geology background and familiarity with bedrock geology of British Columbia and Alberta.Ability to develop robust, scientifically defensible and practical conceptual hydrogeological models.Experience with complex (deep) groundwater monitoring installations in mine settings.Comfortable using technology and desire to learn to operate a variety of environmental monitoring systems such as dataloggers and software packages.Ability to work as part of a team with varying levels of experience and maintain a positive attitude.Ability and interest to undertake extensive fieldwork in a range of weather conditions, including working in remote locations and on programs that may require camp stays.Ability to work in a dynamic consulting environment that requires flexibility and willingness to work overtime in support of field programs.Attention to detail and an understanding of the importance of adherence to numerical modelling standards.What's In It For YouFriendly and down‑to‑earth work culture.Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.Biweekly Earned Days Off (EDO) program.Matching group retirement plan.Comprehensive health insurance – medical/dental/vision coverage.Competitive vacation and special leave.Professional development and mentorship opportunities.Relocation allowance.Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & BelongingHatfield is committed to employment equity and workplace diversity.
