Senior Electrical Engineer – Product Development Pickering, ON Yorkville Sound is a Canadian manufacturer of professional audio equipment with a 60-year history of designing and building reliable products for musicians, venues, and commercial customers. Our products under the Yorkville, Traynor, and ART brands are developed and manufactured in our vertically integrated facility in Pickering, Ontario. We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to play a leading role in the design and development of our next generation of hardware products. About the Role As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will own significant portions of product designs from concept through to production. You will work on systems such as powered loudspeakers, amplifiers, signal processors, and related hardware, in close collaboration with mechanical, acoustic, firmware, and manufacturing teams. The role combines circuit design, system‑level thinking, practical lab work, and support for production. You will also contribute to mentoring less‑experienced engineers, and help set technical direction within the group. Responsibilities Lead or support the design of analog, digital, and mixed‑signal circuits for audio products Design and review switch‑mode power supplies, power amplifiers, and DSP‑based hardware as appropriate to the project Take designs from concept through schematic, PCB, prototype, verification, and transfer to manufacturing Conduct and oversee testing, including performance, reliability, and compliance tests Work with mechanical, acoustic, firmware, and manufacturing teams to ensure products are manufacturable, robust, and cost‑effective Investigate field and production issues; implement and validate corrective actions Produce clear design documentation, including specifications, test plans, and engineering reports Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technologists within the team Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Typically 5+ years of experience in electronic hardware design, ideally in product development for manufactured goods Demonstrated experience taking designs from concept to production Strong background in analog and digital circuit design Proficiency with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium or similar) and standard lab instruments Familiarity with EMI/EMC, safety, and regulatory considerations for commercial products Practical, hands‑on approach; comfortable working with prototypes, fixtures, and production hardware Clear technical communication skills, both written and verbal Eligible to work in Canada and able to work on‑site in Pickering, ON Preferred Experience (assets) Audio, music, or sound reinforcement equipment (amplifiers, powered speakers, mixers, DSP) Switch‑mode power supply design and high‑power audio Embedded systems and firmware collaboration (e.g., working alongside microcontroller/DSP developers) Manufacturing environment or working closely with production teams Familiarity with IEC62368‑1 standard Why Work at Yorkville Sound End‑to‑end product ownership in a vertically integrated environment: design, test, and manufacturing in the same facility Variety in day‑to‑day work: concept development, detailed design, lab verification, and production support Opportunity to influence product architectures and future platforms Direct collaboration with experienced engineers and manufacturing specialists Competitive total compensation including health, dental, life and disability coverage, pension match, and profit sharing On‑site gym and access to engineering labs and production areas A stable organization with long‑term product lines and a clear focus on reliable, real‑world hardware How to Apply Please send your résumé and cover letter summarizing your experience and project examples to: engineering@yorkville.com We thank all applicants, but due to the volume of applications we receive, we are unable to personally contact each applicant.
