Reporting to the CFO, the Technology Director will provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing technology initiatives that align with the overall strategic plan of TerraForm Power. As Technology Director, you will be an integral member of the management team and will direct the planning and implementation of enterprise systems to support the Company's technology strategy and operations.
Specifically, the Technology Director will lead creation of the TerraForm Power IT team as the company transitions to being standalone from Brookfield Renewable, as well as lead future changes to technology systems during a dynamic period of ownership change and growth with support of technology project managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand and translate the business vision and strategic direction into an executable plan that enhances the organization's process efficiency with improved usage of technology and ensures the health and reliability of TerraForm Power's IT infrastructure as an independent business.
- Strong ability to work in partnership with business functions to identify process improvements opportunities, document the requirements and facilitate the implementation of solutions.
- Manage life cycle of IT infrastructure, develop a roadmap for newly acquired assets to meet cyber security and reliability standards.
- Coordinate with the Operations Technology (OT) and Remote Operations Center (ROC) team to manage the reliability of all data and support systems that support critical business processes, including operational data reliability and quality.
- Lead operating, financial, and commercial application day-to-day ownership as well as transition strategy and execution to new systems or instances.
- Manage and coordinate work of external service providers to deliver projects and services to the business on agreed schedule, budget and scope.
- Implement and maintain a comprehensive cybersecurity program that includes risk management; security operations; incident response; infrastructure security; identity and access management; end user awareness/training; and data security and privacy, as well as policies and practices that minimize risk.
- Identify opportunities and develop business cases for cost-effective investment of resources in technology initiatives, including staffing, sourcing, and purchasing.
- Develop, track, and control the technology annual operating and capital budgets.
- Remain current with trends and issues in both the technology and the energy industry.
- Ensure compliance with Brookfield policies and industry regulations (NIST, etc.) in terms of cybersecurity, data privacy and compliance (SOX).
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Information Technology or related field.
- 10 years of experience in IT in a senior leadership role, including 5 years managing a team, preferably with an energy company or in a rapid growth business.
- 3 years of experience in the use of Cloud Computing platforms, with strong working knowledge of Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
- Candidate should possess extensive knowledge of Cisco Meraki Data Networking (SD-WAN) designs and Checkpoint firewalls.
- Experience with OT systems like SCADA and Industrial Control system (ICS), e.g., Bazefield or Aveva PI.
- Significant experience with financial applications including migrations to new software or establishing new instances of existing systems.
- High degree of self-motivation and professionalism, with a confident, assertive style and tenacity to deliver results.
- Effective communication skills: ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution.
