Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.Base pay rangeCA$80,000.00/yr - CA$100,000.00/yrJob Title: Technical Oversight Specialist – Electrical Product SafetyLocation: Toronto, ONNumber of Positions: 1Category: Testing and Evaluation / ManagementSalary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 per yearDutiesPerform testing and evaluation of electrical products as business dictates to nationally recognized electrical safety standards (CSA, UL, IEC, etc.).Provide overall technical expertise for IT/Hi-Tech (IEC-62368), lighting, industrial, laboratory test and measurement (61010), medical (60601) and/or hazardous location products, training, reviewer, testing, inspection and certification.Ensure sound technical decisions are made for testing, inspection and certification programs within the discipline.Provide training and leadership to other technical staff within the discipline.Work to grow all aspects of our Electrical Departments business.Overall responsibility for ensuring activities under the relevant scope of technical expertise are compliant to ISO 17025, ISO 17020, and/or ISO 17065 for the pertinent programs for which this position oversees.Ensure Quality Management System policies, procedures, and work instructions are followed.Recommend competency matrix level changes for supervised staff.Recommend new business opportunities or business direction.Makes recommendations on test equipment.Assist with scope expansions, technical audits, and resolution of CARs.Provide technical knowledge within the relevant background and department for which this position oversees or is assigned to.Takes the lead in qualifying new complicated test set-ups or equipment.Assist in program set up for developing policies, procedures and forms.Review test reports, inspection reports, evaluation reports, as necessary to ensure activities meet the requirements of the relevant accreditation criteria.Interact effectively and professionally with customers and staff, as required.Scope of technical authority shall be limited by the level of authorization as shown in the Competency Matrix.Maintain a high level of technical competency in the relevant discipline.Travel throughout Canada and the USA as business dictates.Be part of an energetic team with a can-do attitude.Other duties as may be assigned by their manager from time to time.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent.5 years directly related experience.Possess superior MS Word and Excel skills, be proficient with Email and Adobe Acrobat.Possess “Good Laboratory Practice” skills essential for testing products.Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.Key Technical CompetenceKnowledge of accreditation standards and requirements.Able to provide technical guidance on requirements in testing, inspection, and/or certification in their relevant field of expertise.Able to identify business opportunities for the organization with sound judgment in making recommendations.Able to make sound judgments on test methods and/or standards within their field of expertise.Able to identify opportunities for improvement and take appropriate action when deemed necessary to ensure QAI meets technical requirements.Additional InformationCandidates must hold a valid passport, or be able to obtain a valid passport, and must be able to travel to the US and international destinations.The successful candidate will progress, subject to satisfactory performance, through a 3-month probation and training period.Equal Opportunity EmployerQAI Laboratories is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
