OverviewThis is a term position of 12 months with possible extension to 18 months, working with a growing national team dedicated to reconciliation at the First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB). The FMB supports First Nations in developing and implementing sound administrative governance and finance practices, fully optional and provided free of charge. A career at FMB is an opportunity to be part of a talented, diverse, and inclusive team doing transformative work on a national level.AccountabilitiesOrganize, maintain, and coordinate employee and office records and files; locate filed materials upon request; ensure materials are given only to authorized parties.Prepare Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents as directed; proofread HR-related documents.Audit HR policies and procedures; provide suggestions on updates and improvements.Assist with regular research and compliance initiatives regarding HR issues; maintain current knowledge of HR systems and tools.Provide appropriate guidance and support to employees to ensure proper use of HR systems; keep up to date with emerging trends and technologies in the Human Resource field.Participate in various committees such as the recruiting strategy to ensure FMB attracts high-caliber talent in a timely manner by supporting the recruitment process with: post and distribute vacancies; monitor job posting advertising externally; sort resumes; conduct phone screens; schedule interviews; create draft interview questions; complete criminal reference checks; complete reference checks; draft offer letters; complete and distribute regret letters; support orientation of new employees.Prepare application vacancy and job fair materials as needed; determine sourcing & attraction strategies/methodologies to increase FMB’s ability to attract, source, and recruit Indigenous candidates; create review and update job descriptions.Support and create initiatives in employee health, safety, and wellness; support the increase of Indigenous culture and culture awareness within FMB staff; enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly; research new perks and benefits and recommend employee training as needed; support employee retention and appreciation initiatives; ensure effective exit interviews and provide management with analysis and recommendations; assist HR Manager(s) with training program development; assist with employee training.QualificationsSecondary Education in Human Resource Management from a recognized educational institution; CPHR or working towards it is an asset; two (2) years recent related HR experience; proficient working skills of complex HRIS systems (Dayforce preferred) and Microsoft Suite and Adobe Products; excellent communicator with a strong command of written and spoken English; French language skills considered an asset; exceptional relationship building skills; strong organizational skills with attention to detail; excellent judgment required to provide sound direction and advice on a variety of human resources issues; knowledge of employment/labour laws and general human resources policies and procedures; experience working with information and data management systems an asset; experience working with Indigenous Governments, organizations, and communities considered a strong asset.BenefitsSalary and annual bonus eligibility.Flexible 37.5-hour work week.Employer paid extended benefits.Matching RPP contributions.Annual vacation allowance and generous paid statutory and non‑statutory days.Work‑life balance; remote or hybrid work arrangements depending on location.Professional development & career growth.ConditionsThis position is based in West Vancouver, British Columbia; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Ottawa, Ontario; or Montreal, Quebec; national travel may be required.
