MPGC owns and operates ten cemeteries and four crematoriums across the GTA, while CMS provides funeral services at nine locations, including funeral centres within MPGC cemeteries and standalone facilities known as The Simple Alternative. About the Position: We are looking for a Bylaw Client Liaison to join our team at Pine Hills Cemetery. The successful candidate will be required to: Inspection and Compliance Monitoring Conduct regular inspections of cemetery properties to verify compliance with all applicable bylaws and regulations. Investigate reports of bylaw violations, gather evidence, and document findings in a clear and thorough manner. Prepare detailed reports on inspection activities, compliance status, and enforcement actions. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies and procedures. Client Engagement & Education Engage with clients (proactively and reactively), including plot owners and visitors, to explain bylaw requirements and address questions or concerns. Educate clients about operating bylaws. Represent the cemetery professionally in all interactions with clients, and the public. Respond to inquiries and complaints with empathy and professionalism, ensuring timely resolution. Enforcement & Documentation Issue notices of violation and document correspondence with interment right holders. Maintain accurate records of inspections, violations, and enforcement actions. Provide detailed notes in cemetery software. Collaboration & Professional Development Work collaboratively with Property Services Management and other departments to resolve compliance issues. Other Other sundry project, and tasks as assigned by Manager, Property Services. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required, post‑secondary education in public administration, or a related field preferred. Experience in bylaw enforcement, compliance inspection, or a similar regulatory role is an asset. A valid Ontario "G" Driver’s License and a clean Driver’s Abstract. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. Strong knowledge of cemetery operations, property management, and relevant bylaws. Strong organizational and record‑keeping abilities. Strong commitment to client care excellence, with a focus on continuous improvement and service innovation. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and discretion. Empathy and cultural sensitivity, ensuring all interactions are inclusive and respectful of diverse client backgrounds. Problem‑solving skills to address client concerns and find mutually beneficial solutions. Intermediate proficiency in Windows and MS Excel, Word, and Outlook. Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic and fast‑paced setting. Second language would be an asset.
