We are looking for a Senior Clinical Analyst to join our newly formed Health Analytics team.Job SummaryThe Clinical Analyst, Health Analytics works closely with Directors and other stakeholders to identify requests, understand and document the underlying business need, and leverage the appropriate analytic or business tools to empower leaders with the right information. When relevant, the Clinical Analyst collaborates with other Health Analytics team members to develop and document requirements for automated technical solutions, and to ensure data integrity and reliability.ResponsibilitiesMeet with clinicians and leaders to overview analytic capabilities and support user request solicitation.Attend program, review, utilization and/or budget meetings to identify opportunities to empower program areas with analytics and define deliverables.Provide dedicated support to identified program areas, gaining an intimate understanding of their operations and identifying operational needs and opportunities where health analytics can help.Support development of key performance indicators (KPIs), scorecards, and/or outcome metrics.Identify opportunities to automate data collection, tracking, trending and reporting.Evaluate the best mechanism/solution to support health analytics at Humber River Health.Collect business requirements using techniques such as Voice of the Customer to distinguish between user requests and underlying business needs.Translate business needs into operational analytics requirements (e.g., reports, dashboards).Document requirements in use-case format and create process models using principles of human factors, design thinking and usability heuristics.Identify data science questions and the data required to answer them; collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to identify analytic solutions and analyze trade-offs between usability and performance.Produce high-quality ad hoc and standardized reports tailored to end-users (clinicians, researchers, senior management, hospital executives).Pre-process raw data for analysis (data cleaning, merging from multiple sources) and assess overall data quality.Assist with writing project protocols including data extraction, cleaning, predictive models, and validation plans; assist with writing code to productionize analytic solutions.Write documentation and contribute to project repositories to ensure reproducibility.Validate data and outputs generated by the health analytics team and perform quality control checks on analyses.Communicate findings through HTML, PDF, Word and PowerPoint reports; prepare presentations for programs and leadership.Document analytic requirements for solutions built by the data engineer/developer, including interactive dashboards and reports with interactive visualizations.Conduct exploratory and statistical analyses in R, Python or other programming languages to assess feasibility of new data science projects.Coordinate and prepare business cases with finance/decision support as needed.QualificationsUndergraduate degree in health care, statistics/biostatistics, health informatics or related discipline required.Master’s degree in related field preferred.5 years of experience in healthcare required; 2-3 years experience in analytics and using analytic tools required (e.g., SAS, R Studio, Tidyverse).Expert knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with leaders, physicians, inter-professional teams and other stakeholders.Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills with competency in information and communication technology.Strong organizational and coordination skills with the ability to prioritize multiple demands.Ability to work independently and as part of a team; high initiative and self-direction.Attendance and discipline record as required; professional certifications in CHIM or PMP preferred; regulated health professional preferred.Experience with Meditech and BI solutions, predictive analytics, or machine learning preferred.Experience writing proposals, submissions, or business cases preferred.An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices; Humber River Health values diverse experiences to address systemic barriers.Why Humber River Health?We are recognized as part of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers and are committed to an inclusive, equitable, and accessible workplace.
