Just like our products and our customer base, we love to see our people growWe offer a competitive benefits package with employer covered health and dental benefits (you don’t pay the premiums) and a company matched Pension Plan for our full-time employees.Job DescriptionThe Quality Control Inspector will report directly to the Operations Manager.This position will be responsible for completing produce inspections, providing inspection details to the sales team and providing support our ripening team. Since produce is highly perishable, you will be working in a fast-paced environment. Your ability to verify the quality and condition of produce items to determine if products meet CFIA/USDA standards will help assure the quality and freshness of inbound and outbound shipments to retail and foodservice customers.This role functions out of our Calgary Distribution Centre, located at 110 – 5675 58 Ave SE, Calgary, Alberta. This role requires flexibility to work early mornings and weekends.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain and enforce Gambles’ quality specificationsPerform and report quality assessments during live inbound receivingFollow up on items that have been received and put-away but have not yet undergone quality controlOutbound quality control checks for select customersFulfill quality-reporting requests (e.g., photos, weight, size, average counts, etc.)Review the cooler checklist daily to identify and report sub-par product for dispositionHandle #2/rejection/return assessments, reporting, and related processes (e.g., transfers and RTS coordination)Third-party inspectionsCoordinate CFIA inspections as requiredProvide support and coverage to the Ripening team as neededCandidate RequirementsQualifications and Personal Attributes:Post-secondary education in food science, natural science and/or agricultureKnowledge, prior experience, and familiarity with CFIA grading standards and produce specifications are considered an assetStrong English communication skills (written and verbal)Ability to lift 50lbs and work in a warehouse environmentIntermediate computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and WordFamiliarity with use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety ActStrong organizational and time-management skillsSelf-starter who identifies priorities and takes initiativeFlexible and adaptable in an ever-changing environmentStrong problem-solving and decision‑making skillsAbility to manage priorities and meet deadlinesValuable AssetsKnowledge of HACCPKnowledge of SQFGambles Group of Companies is an equal opportunity employer situated in a heritage building at 165 The Queensway and encourages applications from individuals with disabilities.
