ICI Alberta is looking for on‑call Associate Producers to provide support for our morning and afternoon radio shows in Alberta and the Northwest Territories.Your roleAct as a researcher/reporter assigned primarily to preparing a radio program, including researching story ideas, preparing research packs (intros, angles, questions, and follow‑ups), chasing and booking guests, and writing and presenting stories on air.Write copy to showcase and promote program content across all digital platforms and repurpose radio content for other platforms.Pitch story ideas to be developed, presented on‑air and delivered on other platforms.Maintain relationships with local communities and contribute to station initiatives under CBC/Radio‑Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.Demonstrate creative self‑starter qualities, sound news judgment, and experience in research and content preparation for audiences across multiple platforms.Key TasksPitch story ideas, chase and book guests to meet daily and long‑term needs.Organize interviewees' participation, develop background, introduction, and line of questioning; conduct or arrange for research and brief hosts accordingly.Maintain contact files.Attend daily assignment and production meetings.Present original stories on air and participate in impromptu roundtable discussions.Write and post online articles to promote show content.Assist the host and producer with program continuity and special projects for programs and the station.QualificationsUniversity degree or equivalent.Minimum of two years’ relevant experience in journalism and technology used at CBC/Radio‑Canada.Demonstrated writing skills.Ability to chase and book French‑speaking guests and synthesize information for hosts in a briefing document.Proven on‑air skills.High level of concentration and organization.Strong news judgment under tight deadline conditions.Ability to develop and maintain a network of relevant sources.Strong news sense, especially Alberta & Northwest Territories news and current affairs, and knowledge of Canadian and international stories.Thorough familiarity with CBC/Radio‑Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.Bilingualism (English and French).Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.Organizational skills; ability to handle a variety of functions quickly and efficiently.Ability to solve problems independently and through group discussions.Knowledge of CBC/Radio‑Canada production applications (Scoop, iNews, Media Central, Dalet) is an asset.Ability to work effectively under pressure to tight deadlines.Please submit your application in French and include additional documentation or a link to your online demo or website, blog, or video in your cover letter.Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.Location123 Edmonton City Centre, Edmonton, Alberta, T5J 2Y8Work Schedule Part timeCBC/Radio-Canada is committed to being a leader in reflecting our country’s diversity.
