Licensed Practical Nurse, Long‑Term Care In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone. The requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Responsibilities Under the direction of the Manager or designate and as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse provides care to complex but stable residents/clients. Duties include assessments, planning, personal care, and nursing procedures in accordance with BC College of Nurses and Midwives competency guidelines, Standards of Practice, agency policies, and unit-specific protocols. Qualifications Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant. For MHSU positions, completion of additional education as outlined by BCCNM for practice in Mental Health and/or Substance Use disorders. Skills And Abilities Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with residents, families, co‑workers, multidisciplinary team members, and the public. Deal with others effectively. Organize work and implement a plan of care. Demonstrate knowledge and competencies to work at full scope of practice, including administering medications. Operate related equipment.
