Sr Database Developer

The Oracle Database Developer will design stable and reliable databases, to ensure our database systems run effectively and securely on a daily basis. An individual in this role will be responsible for developing, testing, improving, and maintaining new and existing databases to help users retrieve data effectively. The Oracle Database Developer will work closely with developers to ensure system consistency, in addition to collaborating with administrators and clients to provide technical support and identify new requirements.Essential Functions/ ResponsibilitiesDesign stable, reliable and effective Oracle databasesOptimize and maintain legacy systemsModify databases according to requests and perform testsSolve database usage issues and malfunctionsLiaise with developers to improve applications and establish best practicesGather user requirements and identify new featuresDevelop technical and training manualsProvide data management support to usersEnsure all database programs meet company and performance requirementsResearch and suggest new database products, services and protocolsSupervisory ResponsibilityThis role does not have direct reports or supervisory responsibility.Education and ExperienceProven work experience as a Database developer with Oracle versions 11gR2 to 19cIn-depth understanding of data management (e.g. permissions, recovery, security and monitoring)Knowledge of software development and user interface web applicationsHands on experience with SQL code and how it works with Java codeExcellent analytical and organization skillsAn ability to understand front-end users requirements and a problem-solving attitudeExcellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with documentation teamsBSc degree in Computer Science or relevant fieldThis job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.Physical DemandsProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, during normal business hours.
