Senior Director – Data Acquisition & Business Development CARFAX Canada Overview The Senior Director of Data Acquisition and Business Development will lead strategic initiatives to drive business growth, develop data partnerships with key stakeholders, identify new business opportunities, and expand CARFAX Canada’s market presence in Canada. Key Information Employment Status: Full‑time, permanent Job Type: Remote Location: Ontario, Canada (Operating entity: CARFAX Canada) Position Responsibilities Build and manage a multi‑year plan to acquire key data, including all data contracts. Manage external data acquisition partnerships, budgeting, contract negotiations, data evaluation, and ROI optimization. Identify, lead, and develop corporate strategic data partnerships aligned with growth objectives. Oversee all aspects of data acquisition: prospecting, assessing, negotiating, and closing supplier agreements and ongoing performance management. Coordinate Police data acquisition with the CARFAX for Police Business unit. Drive service data acquisition, including DMS data, through a centralized function. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and identify opportunities to acquire or enhance data sources. Maintain relationships with business development and data acquisition executives across the organization. Manage the data budget and seek financial savings/optimization. Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the data acquisition and business development team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Education and Experience Required Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Computer Science, Data Science, or related discipline. Strong understanding of business development strategies, market dynamics, and customer needs. 10+ years of experience in sales, data acquisition, or business development. 5+ years of experience leading a team. Demonstrated experience in data sourcing, negotiating data partnerships, and developing acquisition strategies. A proven ability to negotiate data acquisition agreements, licensing terms, and partnerships with external data providers. A strategic mindset aligned with overall business objectives.
