Our team is seeking a detail‑oriented accounting professional who will support the Director of Accounting and Controls for Group Retirement Services. Job Description This is a 1‑year contract opportunity. About the role You will maintain compliance, enhance the internal control environment, and assess risk for pension plan administration and reporting. What will you do? Identify key risks and internal controls through business process understanding. Gather information for risk reporting and complete the Operational Risk Event (ORE) reporting template within 30 days. Conduct root‑cause assessment to identify internal control gaps and develop mitigation action plans. Analyze data and collaborate with internal teams to monitor errors and corrections, supporting internal management reports. Prepare quantitative and qualitative monthly/quarterly reports on control weaknesses and actions. Regulate and monitor identified control gaps to ensure execution of action plans. Complete monthly ORE templates for Canadian Finance and Risk reporting. Support the quarterly provision and accrual process, evaluating amounts at risk. Verify and reconcile the write‑off account ensuring transactions are valid, accurate, and approved in the general ledger. Assist other accounting teams with manual calculations and journal entries. Back‑fill for invoice production during staff vacations. Handle ad‑hoc requests as needed. What do you need to succeed? 2–4 years of experience in a finance and/or operations role. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with experience in accounting operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, V‑lookups) and financial software. Knowledge of control frameworks such as COSO. Ability to operate at both a high‑level and in detail. Understanding of business and operational processes to identify key risks and controls. Proactive, self‑directed, and excellent organizational, planning and time‑management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication, influencing and managing projects. Independent work style with a focus on meeting timelines. Team player with strong commitment to quality and detail.
