Director, Editorial Services and Production Join to apply for the Director, Editorial Services and Production role at Office of the Auditor General of Ontario This role focuses on providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for all editorial content, ensuring high quality, engaging, and aligned with the organization’s brand and objectives. What can I expect to do in this role? Strategic Leadership & Vision Develop and implement forward‑thinking editorial strategies that directly support the organization’s overall goals. Identify and analyze trends, audience needs, and the evolving media and public landscape to inform content direction. Collaborate closely with senior management and other departments to ensure consistent messaging and strategic alignment across all published materials. Content Oversight & Quality Control Oversee creation, editing, and production of all editorial content, ensuring it is accurate, engaging, and adheres to OAGO brand guidelines. Establish and maintain rigorous editorial style guides, standards, and best practices. Implement and manage quality control processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and legal compliance (e.g., copyright, intellectual property). Establish and manage editorial calendars and workflows for timely production. Team Management & Development Recruit, train, and manage a high‑performing team of editors, writers, and content creators, including external contractors. Provide continuous coaching, mentorship, and constructive feedback. Foster a collaborative and productive working environment, effectively delegating work to meet production deadlines. Budget Management Manage the editorial service budget, including expense control and negotiating contracts with external vendors. You will qualify for this position by demonstrating: Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field. Strong understanding of journalistic integrity, ethical publishing practices, and legal considerations of intellectual property and rights. Deep knowledge of the evolving media landscape and content distribution channels. Proven ability to develop and implement high‑impact editorial strategies. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate vision and direction. Demonstrated capability in guiding and motivating teams while building strong working relationships. Strong analytical skills to process information, capitalize on content trends, and make informed decisions. Expert ability to manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
