Job Description AECOM Buildings + Places, AECOM’s Architectural business, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team. This position is based out of our Pickering office, with opportunities for hybrid work. The Buildings and Places Team is a vibrant and growing business line which delivers engineering, architectural, and project management services as well as planning and economic analysis for vertical construction projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to, commercial, institutional, healthcare, pharmaceutical, water / wastewater, and transit facilities. Major Responsibilities Develop reports including schematic design, design development, building assessment, and design build/assist scope of work documents. Prepare electrical drawings and specifications. Implement design concept through the preparation and production of drawings to detail lighting, power, fire alarm, and specialty low voltage systems rough‑ins (i.e., telecomm., intrusion control, security, CCTV, door access controls, etc.). Provide technical and administrative support through all phases of the project. Conduct necessary research to gather industry, field, and project specific data. Ensure design conforms with all applicable codes and standards. Work with prime consultants, engineering consultants, and contractors; respond to technical queries. Construction administration responsibilities: Attend site meetings and site reviews complete with reports. Review shop drawings. Prepare SI and CCN documentation. Review contractor change quotations. Review progress billing. Review fire alarm verification reports. Work to tight schedules, control project budgets and motivate staff to do the same. Use sound judgment supported by excellent technical, analytical and problem‑solving skills. Be well organized, self‑directed, and able to prioritize and schedule tasks managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Two (2)+ years of experience in the engineering consulting industry in a building engineering group. Preferred Requirements Registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario. Three (3)+ years of extensive electrical design experience on transportation‑related buildings and facilities such as subway stations. Experience with electrical load calculations, lighting design and analysis. Familiarity with OESC, OBC, IEEE, NFPA, and other industry standards and codes. Experience designing electrical power and lighting systems. Knowledge of power analysis tools such as SKM and/or ETAP. Proficiency in using computers for engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing. Familiarity with providing guidance and support for others within a department. Strong analytical, technical, and problem‑solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and commitment to technical excellence and quality. Self‑motivated and proactive. Detail oriented and resourceful. A good team player and decision maker. Valid driver’s license. Additional certifications such as LEED, LC, CEM, RCDD, etc. are a bonus. Communications system design experience is a plus. Experience with IES energy modeling tool is desirable. Some project management experience and training desired. Additional Information Relocation is not available for this position. Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position. Compensation Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is CAD 80,000–95,000 per year.
