If you share our values and would like to help make tomorrow better than today, join our team and see where your career can take you.HGC is seeking an intermediate level Hydrotechnical Engineer to help lead the development and execution of hydrotechnical engineering services to support HGC’s ongoing projects and clients, as well as assist in building up our water resource engineering team. The successful applicant will provide and manage the development and execution of hydrotechnical engineering analysis and design to support various civil heavy earthworks projects including water storage dams, river intakes, earthen containment ponds, pipelines, and industrial surface water management infrastructure. The successful candidate will have the initiative and accountability to work independently and with a team in a rewarding, fast paced environment.Does this sound like the right fit for you? Learn more about the roleYour main responsibilitiesProject management, including project initiation, coordination, and executionAssisting in water resources business developmentMentoring and managing intermediate and junior water resources engineersFormulate design and detailed calculations, prepare reports, specifications, and construction cost estimatesDelegating design, calculations, reporting and other activities to junior staff and be responsible for the review of the workHydrotechnical design and analysis including (but not limited to) hydrologic modelling, hydraulics design and modelling, erosion and sediment control, flood analysis and mitigation design and river engineeringCoordinate with civil engineers, civil designers, and environmental scientists to integrate hydrological and hydrotechnical considerations into project designsDevelop and/or review dam break inundation modelsComplete watershed delineation, runoff modelling and water balance evaluationsPrepare flood frequency analysis, design storm analysis, peak discharge calculations, and wind/wave calculations using provincial and federal design standardsSite inspection and supervisionWhat makes you uniqueHydrotechnical, Water Resources or Civil engineering degreeRegistered as, or the ability to immediately register as, a P.Eng. in AlbertaComputer and software skills to complete hydraulic analysis, including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, QGISExcellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are essentialApplicant must be willing to travel and be in the field as required on a project needs basisMust have a valid driver’s license and be legally entitled to work in CanadaThe following will be considered an assetExperience with the design, operation, and inspection of earthen damsCFD modelling experienceInvolvement with the Canadian Dam Association and familiarity with GuidelinesExperience in the design and construction of large civil earthworks projectsHydraulic design experienceMunicipal sewer design experienceExperience in open pit mine surface water managementExperience in environmental sciencesWhat makes Englobe uniqueAt HGC, a division of Englobe, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects of every size and scope.
