Engineering Manager – Municipal Projects Location: (Hybrid – 3-4 days a week in office) – Guelph Hours: Mon-Fri – 8:30am-5pm (37.5 hours / wk.) Our client, is a leading clean technology company that designs, manufactures and distributes a comprehensive line of high-efficiency air emissions control systems used to eliminate odors, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). Currently, they are looking for an Engineering Manager responsible for leading and managing various municipal related engineering projects, focusing on municipal design systems. The Engineering Manager provides leadership and strategic advice in the areas of engineering design and reviews, estimation and product development within the municipal water distribution / treatment, wastewater collection / treatment, air abatement sectors. Responsibilities & Functions: Responsible for a team of Engineers, and Drafters dedicated to the successful execution of design processes as they relate to Municipal Projects. Budgetary planning, procurement, preparation of tender specifications and engineering drawings and related reporting. Responsible for development of engineering plans and tender specifications for a variety of projects and initiatives. Review of technical proposals, engineering submittals and technical drawings for accuracy with contract documents and sound engineering practice. Responsible for all aspects of RFI’s. Identify, compile and execute cost reduction strategies for project designs. Ensure designs are in compliance with health and safety and all industry regulations / guidelines. Expertly troubleshoot all aspects of any given project. Provide technical and engineering advice relating to projects / operations to team as well as the client. Review deliverables prepared by consultants and provide direction and engineering advice relating to project merits, design and concepts. Qualifications & Skills: Requires a university / college degree or equivalent in mechanical, electrical or environmental, chemical engineering discipline. P.Eng. designation. 7+ years experience having led a team of engineers – ideally focused on Municipal Projects (e.g. wastewater, air abatement, etc.). Mechanically inclined with ability to interpret, analyze, understand and implement information from technical drawings and literature. Experience with mechanical / electrical equipment dealing with fans, motors, sensors, pumps, blowers, water circulation systems and control instrumentation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally. Superior negotiating and conflict resolution skills and the ability to professionally respond to issues as they arise. Ability to work unsupervised for extended periods of time with a willingness to travel as required to service company systems and customers and work extra hours when require to meet deadlines.
