About the JobThe Field Welder will be responsible for providing on-site repairs and maintenance on waste compactors and balers. You will work from a company repair truck and be dispatched to customer sites to perform welding repairs on recycling containers, equipment, grates, railings, and related items. This role involves direct customer interaction, requiring high-level customer service and communication with client users, operators, and employees.While most work will be performed independently after training, collaboration with other technicians and support staff is expected to ensure quality service.Location and Work ArrangementsLocation: Field Welders have the option to take home the company vehicle and work from their home location.Work Hours: 8 am to 4:30 pm, with overtime and on-call duties required.Qualifications and SkillsExperience in Arc/Stick weldingAbility to read and interpret shop drawingsStrong commitment to quality workmanshipWillingness to work overtime when neededAbility to travel to multiple locations independently in a company vehicleExcellent communication skills, professional appearance, positive attitude, and safety consciousnessComfort working in all weather conditions, wearing protective gear near waste materialsDaily ResponsibilitiesPerform welding repairs on recycling containers, equipment, grates, and railings, including describing parts to the shop and installing on-site.Assess repair needs, use cutting torches and welders for repairs.Operate various hand and power tools.Prepare and submit clear service reports and communication.Work Environment and SafetyPhysical demands include standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, stooping, and kneeling. Ability to drive safely for extended periods and operate tools with manual dexterity is required.
