Zurich Canada is currently looking for a Middle Market Senior Underwriter or Underwriting Specialist to join the team in our Technology practice. Reporting to VP, Industry Verticals, Canada Middle Market, you will handle complex new and renewal Middle Markets business and serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the Technology practice. As a member of Zurich's Underwriting Team, you will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply and hone your underwriting and marketing skills while building relationships with our distribution partners. This is a hybrid work opportunity.What you will doServing as a customer industry advocate with a focus on improving the customer experience by understanding their risk and offering the best end to end solution for their insurance needs.Using a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment and pricingUsing risk insights, data and models to drive informed decisions at point of saleIdentifying gaps involved and aligning Zurich’s products and value proposition to offer a solution that provides the contract certainty the customer needsDemonstrating strong analytical skills and executing as an innovative advisorUnderwriting, analyzing and generating new and renewal businessMarket facing and production within the growing Middle Markets divisionAdministering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rulesDeveloping and maintaining broker relationshipsWorking within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignmentsJob QualificationsWhat You Bring To The TableRequired:High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area. ORHigh School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaORZurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaZurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaANDKnowledge of Microsoft OfficeExperience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal businessExperience working in a team environmentPreferred:Existing broker relationshipsCyber and E&O experience preferredBachelor’s DegreeKnowledge of Middle Markets Property and Casualty UnderwritingStrong negotiation skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating skillsPresentation skills and a solutions and service orientationKnowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelinesCompensationCompensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including location, role, skill set, and experience. The salary range provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differential. Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation as required by local law.
