Jr. Software Application Engineer – Wind River Conductor Location: Ottawa, Canada Description Position at Wind River. This role is a Jr. Software Application Engineer focusing on Wind River Studio Conductor, a part of Wind River Studio and Wind River Cloud Platform. About The Opportunity Wind River Systems is building Wind River Studio for Operators, delivering an integrated cloud platform that unifies infrastructure, orchestration, and analytics capabilities. The studio lets operators deploy and manage intelligent 5G edge networks globally. This role supports the development of a distributed cloud‑based orchestration and automation platform for the intelligent edge. What You’ll Do Utilize your software engineering experience to develop and maintain Wind River Studio Conductor, focusing on multi‑cloud automation. Who You Will Work With You will work with multiple teams across the Wind River ecosystem to enhance automation and orchestration across Wind River Cloud Platform, Wind River Analytics, and other products. Your role will collaborate with technical staff and contractors in various countries to ensure seamless integration across systems. Your Responsibilities Develop and enhance features in the Wind River Conductor Product. Use open‑source and proprietary code to contribute to product features. Apply Agile processes to complete work. Work with Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and other container‑orchestration technology. Partner on containerization and fault‑tolerant/carrier‑grade deployment initiatives. Use StarlingX (https://www.starlingx.io/). Deliver platform features with high‑quality design and code. Investigate and resolve issues reported during product verification and customer integration. Contribute to automation and feature development for Wind River Conductor. Collaborate with technical staff on various solutions. Core Competencies Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field. 2+ years of professional software development experience. 2+ years of Python programming experience. 1+ year of contributing to new and current systems. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of professional experience building infrastructure software for highly scalable, distributed systems. Track record of delivering mission‑critical, 24x7 production software systems. Experience with gerrit and zuul. Experience modifying and enhancing Linux build systems.Contributions to the open‑source community. Strong ownership, urgency, and drive. Strong analytical and debugging skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience with Kubernetes and at least one of Python, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, YAML, TOSCOA, UI/NodeJs/ReactJS, Typescript, Semantic. Familiarity with Agile development and DevOps. Excellent interpersonal communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. Comfortable in a distributed development environment with business travel. Proven ability to work across multiple technologies proactively and own problems.
