Your Opportunity: Are you looking to make a lasting impact on surgical care for Albertans? Acute Care Alberta (ACA) is a new provincial health agency dedicated to overseeing the governance and coordination of high-quality, timely, and compassionate acute care services across the province when Albertans need it most. By bringing together specialized care providers, ACA will speed up access to high-quality care, reduce wait‑times and make sure every patient’s journey through the acute care system is efficient and effective across the province. Surgical Care Alberta (SCA) is a new provincial program within ACA that serves as a provincial hub for surgical expertise, standardization, planning and innovation. In the role of Senior Consultant in SCA, you will be a pivotal member of the team. Reporting to the Executive Director, the focus of this position is on coordination and system‑level surgical planning and coordination. As a member of the broader SCA team, you may be called upon to support other important work or priorities within the Surgery Provincial Program. This position’s location is negotiable and may be eligible for a remote/hybrid work arrangement, although periodic travel may be required within the province of Alberta. It is an exciting time to join the organization and SCA, as the province works to re‑imagine and re‑organise healthcare administration and delivery. This is a unique career opportunity with the ability to play a significant role in building and shaping the foundation for a new provincial surgical program. This position will be part of Acute Care Alberta effective April 1, 2025. By applying on this posting, if you are the successful candidate, you agree to and will become an employee of Acute Care Alberta. Description: Surgical Care Alberta is seeking a forward‑thinking and experienced Consultant with a strong clinical background in surgery to support system‑level planning in collaboration with Health Service Delivery Organizations and the broader SCA team. This role will be instrumental in shaping process and communication patterns, developing strategic partnerships, and act to align site‑level operations with provincial strategies and broader system planning. The successful candidate will collaborate with clinical and operational leaders, health system partners, data experts and others in contributing to initiatives aimed at improving access to surgical care and supporting system‑level planning. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of surgical systems and structures in Alberta, clinical knowledge, a commitment to equity and excellence, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
