Working in Mi’kma’ki and providing care to those across Atlantic Canada is a shared privilege with the original inhabitants who have lived here for many thousands of years prior to colonization.The OpportunityThe Research Nurse provides administrative and clinical support for Clinical Trials at the CCfV Challenge Unit. The Causal Relief Research Nurse is responsible for a wide range of duties including some or all of the following: research project logistics, conducting visits, and participant follow-up.Responsibilities:Review study protocol and orientation materials, attend study orientation meetings/site initiation visitsParticipate in study meetings, training, and maintain a current knowledge of the study status and important milestonesProvide nursing care and support to clinical trial participantsEducate participants about study procedures and requirementsAdminister investigational products and perform study-related procedures according to protocol and regulatory standardsAccurately document study data, maintain source records, and ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP)Collaborate with the research team to ensure smooth trial operations, including scheduling visits and coordinating with laboratory and clinical staffMonitor participant safety, promptly report adverse events, and follow safety protocolsMaintain appropriate study blinding, randomization methods, and drug accountability recordsMaintain study documentation in adherence with the CCfV filing systemAct as professional liaison with study participantsVenipuncture will be requiredHours of WorkShifts may be 8 hour or 12 hour. Evenings/nights/days. Weekends/holidayYour QualificationsQualifications include:Nursing diploma requiredMust hold a valid Nova Scotia nursing license1+ years of relevant experience within a university research setting, hospital, or comparable environmentDemonstrated experience in applying equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility principles in practiceExperience in research, specifically clinical trials preferred but not requiredStrong clinical skills including blood sampling, and physical assessmentKnowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)Excellent oral and written communication skillsStrong attention to detailHighly organized and able to effectively multitask in a clinical or research settingExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to speak, listen, and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniquesAble to work cooperatively and effectively with othersCPR/BLS current or willingness to obtainMust be able to lift up to 30 poundsWe welcome all interested persons who self-identify as Indigenous, Black/African Nova Scotians, Persons of Colour, Immigrants/Newcomers, Persons with Disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+ to apply to support our goal for our workforce to be representative of the patients, families, and communities that we care for at all job levels.IWK Health is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from diverse candidates.
