They will participate in all aspects of camp, in addition to establishing and maintaining positive relationships with children, parents/guardians, and the camp teamWe’re looking for specialized counsellors in the following camps:Community Y counsellors (Aged 5-12)Physical Activity and Healthy Lifestyle counsellors (Aged 5-12)Get Up and Move counsellors (Aged 7-12)English immersion (Aged 7-12)YMCA International Language School (Aged 7-12)Urban Discovery counsellors (Aged 13-15)Science and Engineering at Concordia (Aged 5-17)Arts counsellors at Concordia (Aged 5-17)In this position, you will be responsible for:Planning and leading fun camp activities in collaboration with your co-counsellor;Developing the creativity and skills of the various groups partcipating in the activities;Ensuring that children are adequately supervised at all times and that the camp is always safe and clean;Communicating regularly with parents/guardians to develop and maintain a positive relationship with them and the children;Participating in preparatory meetings and trainings required for the camp inclusing weekly camp meetings and welcome phone calls.What will you gain?The opportunity to develop your expertise in arts and education;The opportunity to have a positive impact on your community and make a significant difference in the lives of our campers;A job working with people who are passionate about camps, arts and leisure;Free DAFA training;The opportunity to secure year-round employment at the YMCA;A membership to the YMCA for the duration of your employmentCANDIDATE PROFILEBe over 18 years old.Have a good command of French and English.Have experience working with children and youth.Be in the process of obtaining a university or college degree in a related field (dance, arts education, music, education, fine arts, etc.)Currently studying or have studied at Concordia University (an asset)KEY SKILLSBe able to develop interesting and innovative programming, highlighting the values of the YMCA;Be able to support the growth of campers in activities;Participate in teamwork and ensure a good work atmosphere;Be responsible and adhere to YMCA ethical standards;Take initiative and demonstrate leadership;Guide, motivate and inspireFOR YOUR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH, THE YMCA DAY CAMPS OFFER:The opportunity to work at the location of your choice: Downtown YMCA (YMCA International Language School), Cartierville YMCA, Concordia University (downtown campus), Du Parc YMCA, Notre-Dame-de-Grâce YMCA, Pointe-Saint-Charles YMCA, Westmount YMCA, and Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro (3 sites).An hourly wage of $ 18.75.Fees for first aid, CPR and rescue training (if you’re not already certified), as training is a prerequisite for the position.
